Tuesday’s Torch 582

April 7, 2020

These last few weeks have been very difficult for many people.  Worries and fear have gripped individuals all over the globe.  Fear does a lot of different things to different people.  I’ve seen fingers of blame pointing this way and that way.  There are those who are taking every warning seriously and others who have thus far chosen to ignore them.

I, and many of us, deal with anxiety already so this entire situation ramps that up.  But I’m trying to stay positive and you can too.

Psalm 121:1-2 says the following:

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

These two simple verses are great.  They tell us that we can turn to one who is all powerful.  This isn’t to say that everything is gonna be fine and perfect.  Doesn’t mean we can go out and do whatever we want and have no worries.  But it does show that we can and will be helped.

One who made Heaven and Earth can help us if we let Him.  We have a Savior in Jesus Christ who paid the ultimate price on our behalf.  I’ve stated many times in the past that not only did he suffer for our sins and transgressions, but he has felt our pains and borne our griefs.

So think about what you’re feeling right now.  Does the virus going around cause you to fear, worry or get depressed or anxious?  All of the above?  Or is something else bothering you?

Maybe you’re missing a loved one?  Stressed out about a lost job or afraid of the uncertainty of the days to come? Have emotions that are just devastating, feelings many haven’t had to deal with before.  Help is available.

The Savior felt everything you’re feeling.  He took that pain upon himself during a very infinite atonement.  So that He can help you deal with it as well.

Please join with me in turning all this fear and worry over to God our Eternal Father and Jesus Christ his son.  Let each of us do our part to follow all of the important guidelines being handed down to keep ourselves and others safe.  Let us spend more time in the scriptures and more time in prayer.  Let us ask for the help that has been promised to us.  Let us strive to live righteous lives so that we will be more able to feel the promptings of the spirit.

There is a lot going on right now.  With so many things closed and so much social distancing going on, let us take advantage of the opportunities to grow closer to our Father in Heaven and closer to the Savior. Surely if we have the time to watch some of these wild and crazy Netflix documentaries we have the time to search and study the scriptures and pray to find answers and help that we need?

I would like to close this message with a simple and very brief testimony.  I know God lives and loves us. I know that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ knows us individually and lived and died for each of us.  And that he did miraculously come back.  That he rose again on the third day.  As we all prepare to celebrate what will for many be a very different Easter than normal, let us remember him more fully, and follow him more completely, and turn to him for the help we need.  And I share this message in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

We pray the Lord will touch our readers. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk about what He did and is still doing. The best thing God’s done is send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will invite the Lord into their lives by asking Him to forgive their sins and believing that He is the Son of God. Please share testimonies, feedback or encouraging words by email at: tuesdaystorch@gmail.comwe enjoy hearing from you. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website , by email, Facebook and Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
