Tuesday’s Torch 577
March 3, 2020
So tonight is a very difficult night. I’ve been so upbeat and positive this last couple weeks thinking something amazing was about to happen for me. And then it did, and then it very abruptly didn’t. And I’ve been devastated ever since. But I’m not going to let that keep me down and will simply choose to practice a bit more patience and faith.
I still know that God answers prayers, sometimes not the way we expect or hope for but he does. He will provide us with more than enough for all we need to accomplish. Tonight’s verses come from Philippians 4:
“but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”
So brothers and sisters, we need to continue to thankfully pray about those blessings we seek. Now note the verse doesn’t say that you’ll get everything you ask but it does offer a reward for asking. It says that you will be rewarded by having the peace of God in our hearts and minds.
I know I need that absolutely after the past few days. So I will be praying fervently after posting this torch to receive those things I stand in need of and receive that peace. May we all seek for and receive that.
But then the verse goes even farther. Having the peace of God in our hearts and minds is wonderful but there is a greater blessing promised if we think about all the wonderful and righteous things that we should do and then go ahead and do them, that the God of Peace will be with us.
After the last few days, and after regretfully losing my composure in a couple situations where I really needed to not lose it, I really really need to have both the peace of God and the God of peace with me. I’m sure most of you would agree that would be amazing to keep with us as often as possible, and preferably all of the time.
So I hope that you will all join me in praying more frequently and more fervently and witness the incredible blessing of bringing the peace of God and the God of peace more fully into our lives. And listen, this may be a little different than I usually put into the torch, but if you would be willing to offer a prayer for me and and my family and those most affected by the events from this weekend that have shaken me to my very core, but of which I can’t disclose the details, then I would greatly appreciate it. And I share my testimony that God lives and loves us. That Jesus is the savior of us all collectively and individually. And I share this in his name, the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk about what He did and is still doing. The best thing God’s done is send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will invite the Lord into their lives by asking Him to forgive their sins and believing that He is the Son of God.
