Tuesday’s Torch 572

January 28, 2020

Sometimes we can get caught up in worry and fear.  Afraid that no matter how hard we try, certain things will not happen.  When we are afraid that the end result of giving something our all could still be failure, we are often frozen in place and we guarantee that whatever our righteous goal may be, that it will remain unaccomplished.

In 2 Timothy 1:7-8 we are told the following:

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord.”

I have at many times expressed how I know that God can do anything.  That He can help us overcome any obstacle and bring us victory in the midst of what may seem to be insurmountable odds.  There’s a certain boldness to it and a certain fear of “but what if it doesn’t work out?”

It is my testimony that our God given abilities of power, and love, and our ability to reason, they are all able to be amplified many times over as we turn to God and as we turn to the Savior.  And as we do so, our fears will start to go away and be replaced by something so much greater, faith!

A lot of people hesitate to express their testimony of the Savior.  They fear being judged or mocked.  Some fear that because of past mistakes or current situations, that they will be deemed a hypocrite, or a fraud.  They fear what people will think of them or who it may cause to distance themselves if they know we have a testimony of Jesus Christ.

I know how crippling these fears and anxieties can be because I have felt all of these things at different times in my life. I still struggle with some of them even now, but let me unequivocally state right now that I know God lives and that His Son Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. And that he is my personal savior.  That he paid a price for me that I could not pay myself.  All things are truly possible through him.  I challenge each of us to not let fear stand in the way of our faith and our testimony.  Especially not fear of failure.  I’ve seen how that fear can destroy great opportunities, and can prevent desired blessings by deciding that a thing is unattainable and therefore giving up.  Brothers and Sisters, I pray we may all be a little stronger and a little wiser, and turn to God who will see us through our trials.  Of this I testify in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

We pray the Lord will touch our readers. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk about what He did and is still doing. The best thing God’s done is send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will invite the Lord into their lives by asking Him to forgive their sins and believing that He is the Son of God. Please share testimonies, feedback or encouraging words by email at: tuesdaystorch@gmail.comwe enjoy hearing from you. No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
