Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. (Psalm 127:1)

When we got to Summerville everyone got lost on the way to the storage building. We finally met up and were shown where to go. Unfortunately the day was very hot we got overheated with the van off so much that I felt faint and it made everyone worry about working in it so everyone was moody. At the end of the day the difficulties worked out, our stuff was in storage and we were content. When the Lord moves us chances are we will face trials along the way but they only show us He is there and will be our help. When we have faith that He can do it we get to see what He can really do. After putting our stuff in storage we had about twenty days before we could close on the house we were buying. This time would have cost too much for us to stay in a hotel so Perry and Darlene let us stay with Sammy at their house. We slept in the guest room and my mom stayed in Sammy’s bedroom. There wasn’t a lot for us to do while waiting on our new house. We had to sign some papers for the lawyer one day, meet with the insurance company and mortgage lender. There were inspections and things being done by our realtor so he kept in close contact with us. I was going to let mom sign for me on closing day but the attorney told me it was best if I didn’t give her power of attorney because it cannot easily be undone. She could help me sign as long as the lawyer saw I was competent and agreeing to do so. While we waited Sammy and I were still on our Greys Anatomy marathon and at some point we decided to get the full effect and watch Private Practice, Greys spin off show. Some days we went out for lunch or ice cream but mostly Sam’s dad cooked a nice dinner every night we were there. On Sundays we went to church together and for lunches out to eat because that was a tradition for me and mom. One day mom and me went to the military base to see what we needed to do in order to renew our ID cards and see what kind of benefits we’d get when my dad retired that year. For some reason we weren’t eligible for much and mom wasn’t supposed have a military ID any more. Another day we went with Sammy and her dad to meet Jill the wheelchair seating specialist so she could pick up her new wheelchair.

We enjoyed a nice couple of weeks with Sammy and her family. We stayed there the whole time except the last night before the closing when Darlene had family coming into town from Pennsylvania. That night mom and I stayed with Sammy’s sister Amanda and Alicia at their house. Sammy stayed with her dad that night because she didn’t have to be at the closing with us. I swear I have never signed so many pages in my life it was insane. I held the pen in my fingers while mom stabilized my arm and helped move my hand to sign every page. This meeting was about two hours long but it was exciting to be a first time home buyer. After the closing everyone was on standby to move us just around the corner from storage facility to our house. While they loaded the pick-up trucks with the first load of stuff; mom and I went and picked up Sammy so I could bring baby home to our house. We were so thankful for Darlene’s family who were on vacation for helping with the move. It all happened in just a few hours and we couldn’t have been happier to finally be in our new home. God puts His dwelling place amoung us, inside of us so that He can walk with us and we can be His people (Lv 26:11-12). It is better to spend one day at the door of His house then to live with wicked men (Ps 84:10). No matter what house we live in the Lord is our refuge and dwelling place, no harm or disaster can touch us there (Ps 91:9-10). Unless the house we live in is built by God it was built without a purpose. In order for Him to build it all He has to do is fill it with Him in us. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything (Heb 3:4). Every house I lived in as a child the first thing we would do is pray and dedicate our house to God. After getting moved in this was a tradition we continued so that our house would be something built by Him.

Lord I thank you for providing shelter for us so that we can have a home. If we are blessed to have a physical house to live in we are grateful for it but help us not forget to dedicate it to you so it is built with you in mind. Where ever we lay our head God belongs to you. Help us to see that you are our dwelling and place of refuge. We trust you God and believe no harm or disaster will come near our home. How much better it is God to spend one day at home with you then to live with the wicked. Our house maybe built by someone but help us to see that it all belongs to you. In Jesus name, Amen.

We pray the Lord will touch our readers. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk about what He did and is still doing. The best thing God’s done is send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will invite the Lord into their lives by asking Him to forgive their sins and believing that He is the Son of God. Please share testimonies, feedback or encouraging words by email at: tuesdaystorch@gmail.com we enjoy hearing from you. No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
