I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. (1 Corinthians 1:4)

In November after Sammy came to my house a couple weeks later I was able to stay at her house while her dad was out of town. After getting there I realized I had no mask for my night time ventilator and we had problems with one from the hospital so I felt congested for about a day. I learned that day about the importance of being prepared. The Lord also wants us to be ready to speak on His behalf and show Him to others through our living a righteous life. A few weeks after staying with her we made another trip to spend Thanksgiving with Sammy and her family. We got checked in at our hotel on Wednesday afternoon then headed over to her house until we had to come back for sleep. The next day was Thanksgiving I believe we had to be there by one but probably got there a little earlier than that. This would be our first major holiday together, we were excited because we had a lot to be thankful for. Mom and I brought a pecan pie to dinner but there was already so much food it was overlooked. Sammy’s dad Perry does most of the cooking at her house and he makes quite the holiday spread. We had turkey, gravy, potato salad, dressing, dinner rolls, sweet corn casserole, pineapple casserole, macaroni and cheese, green beans, lima beans, macaroni and cheese. That day Sammy said, “I am thankful for a God that is showing up more in my everyday life not just b/c i ask Him to but b/c He wants to. I am thankful for a man that loves me and appreciates me more everyday who I absolutely adore w/ every cell in my body. I’m thankful for my family. I’m thankful for friends in particular right now I’m thankful for one b/c i read a note that she sent me a few weeks back simply thanking me for being me and apologizing that her life is so busy that she doesn’t get to pay me the attention that she wants to. I’m thankful for all the ridiculous amount of food that is cooking in the kitchen right now.” Friday after leftovers for lunch I had to go back home until the next trip to see my baby. When I got home I hoped everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving on Facebook because I was with the love of my life Sammy Hale and got to enjoy Perry Hale’s amazing feast. It was a great time and I was thankful to feel welcomed to their beautiful family.

If we chose to live a life of thankfulness every day can be Thanksgiving minus a few of those extra calories from the ooie gooie pumpkin cake. The greatest and most obvious thing we are still thankful for to this day is one another. Because of the grace given us in Christ Jesus we should be thankful for everyone He put in our lives. We praise the name of God in songs and differ ways to glory Him with thanksgiving (Ps. 69:30). One way to show we are thankful to Him is through the cup of thanksgiving which is us remembering the blood He shed. Breaking the bread likewise we do in remembrance of Him. The loaf we often break with others so that corporately we maybe one loaf in thanking Him (1 Cor. 10:16-17). In Paul’s letter to Timothy we are urged that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people. I think he is meaning people who we are more indirectly associated with who still influence our lives. Mainly those in authority over us bosses, mayors, governors, president, church and world leaders to name a few. For us to live peaceful quite lives in all godliness and holiness we want their lives to be covered by God (1 Tim 2:1-2). Thanksgiving in America is a lot to do with food and a bountiful harvest after the pilgrims survived a year in the new colony. In Israel they had many rules in what they were allowed to eat. Everything God created is good and nothing should be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving (1 Tim. 4:4). Anything good we have been blessed with is the Lords so we should be thankful for all of it including the food we eat on that day.

Lord help us to enter your courts with thanksgiving and praise. Give to us a thankful heart wherever our life may find us. Show us today what we can be thankful for even in the midst of our daily struggles. Though it may not always be easy Lord help us to be grateful for all the people who touch our lives directly and indirectly. Some of us maybe separated from those we love and often times that is when we see how thankful we should be. Help us not have to learn trough losing God. Mostly God help us to see everything is yours so that we can give thanks where thanks is due. In Jesus name, Amen.

Every Tuesday we talk about what He did and is still doing. The best thing God’s done is send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will invite the Lord into their lives by asking Him to forgive their sins and believing that He is the Son of God. Please share testimonies, feedback or encouraging words by email at: tuesdaystorch@gmail.com we enjoy hearing from you. No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
