Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate. (Mark 10:9)
It was great getting to spend time with Sammy for her class reunion weekend because it was only a week after I was with her before. It was a struggle because we both felt sick but we went any way and had a good time. When I left her it was in a rush to get home but I learned that it’s never good to hurry along if it keeps us from what is more important. Unfortunately after going twice in September we were unable to travel to Summerville at all in October. Sammy tried so hard to find a way to come to York to celebrate my birthday on the forth but no one was able to bring her to me. This was very sad for her because we wanted to be together like we were for her birthday that year. Since she couldn’t make it in October she found a way to me in November when her dad and Darleen were coming past our town to go to a wedding in North Carolina. She knew for a few weeks that she’d be coming and we wanted to get better engagement pictures so we planned that for this 24 hour quick trip. That Saturday we both put on the same outfits we wore on our actual engagement so we’d be ready to go when she got here. She got to my house at 12:30 that day and we left to meet my friend Cammie at MorningStar around 2:30 so she could take our pictures. MorningStar Church meets at what used to be Heritage USA hotel and confrence center so there’s all kinds of neat areas that make for good pictures. We took pictures with artwork, stained glass window wall, near the trolley on Main Street, a balcony overlooking it, in the library and the beautiful courtyard. Our photo shoot lasted for two hours and was a lot of fun on a cold rainy day in November. After we left there we went and picked up some wings and introduced Sammy to the Anderson family before going back to our house. That night our friends Melina, Ronnie and Kelly stopped by to meet Sammy and hang out for a little while. After everyone left we got ready for bed and slept in the guestroom together. When we woke up she got up and ready first then I got up and had a bite to eat. Janet and Erica came later that morning to meet Sammy. Her dad came at 12:30, him and Darleen stayed and we all had a nice conversation for about an hour before baby had to go.
We accomplished a lot in a very short time but we finally got to be together at my house and that was great. After a month of not seeing one another when we finally had a chance to be together we learned how important just one day could be. Through these photos at the church I was attending I felt more than ever before that God brought us together and nothing would separate us. Sammy and I glorify the Lord; together we exalt His holy name (Ps. 34:3). Our relationship with God is most important and I didn’t think of this at the time but doing our pictures at church was one way for us to include Him in our engagement. It is a good and pleasant thing when God’s people live together in unity (Ps. 133:1). The Lord loves when believers are united together through marriage and in relationship with eachother. In the early church believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to the needy. They continued meeting together in the temple and in their homes they ate together with glad and sincere hearts. They praised God together enjoying the favor of all the people and the Lord added new believers each day (Acts 2:44-47). In Christ the building is joined together to become a holy temple in the Lord. In Him we are built together so that we become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit (Eph. 2:21-22). Together we are a sacred temple of God and if anyone tries to destroy His temple they will be destroyed (1 Cor. 3:17). There are many important virtues for us to live by such as patience, kindness, humility and gentleness that help us when we are together with others. More important than these is love it binds us together in perfect unity (Col. 3:14). Because of real love Sammy and I have a great time together be it just a day or the rest of our lives.
Lord help us to do life right with others and let nothing keep us from living together in perfect unity. Help us to remember that we are built into a temple by Christ with others so that we offer proper support to those we are connected with. When a brother or sister is in need I ask that we would be willing to step up and be the first one to help them. I ask that we would keep our temple clean by living wholesome lives and by showing love to everyone in our lives. In Jesus name, Amen.

All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk about what He did and is still doing. The best thing God’s done is send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will invite the Lord into their lives by asking Him to forgive their sins and believing that He is the Son of God.
