Tuesday’s Torch

By: Tim Sader

From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother’s womb. I will ever praise you. (Psalm 71:6)

After hearing a message at church about staying full of God for our next assignment, I was inspired to show up at a concert and surprise Sammy. The wonders of God’s love should be a big surprise for us when we get to experience it. I had no overnight trip to see Sammy In March so when I knew her birthday was getting close I booked a room for a long weekend to celebrate with her. When I got to Summerville it was late afternoon so we hung out by the pool with her nephew Zach while waiting on her sister so we could go to dinner. Before going to dinner was one of the first times I met Sammy’s twin sister. I remember being slightly intimidated because twins have a close connection so she is protective of Sammy and her opinion of me was important. When she got there I gave Sammy the first gift I brought for her that weekend. It was a gold key on a gold chain because she used it to unlock my heart. That evening seven of us went to dinner at the Icehouse, one of Sammy and Amanda’s favorite places to eat. It didn’t take long for it to become my favorite too, everything was the best I ever tasted. After dinner it was already getting late so we said good night and I went to the hotel to sleep so I could get up for church in the morning. We went to Sammy’s early in the morning to follow her dad to church in our van. It was before we both tried to fit in one van. At church we learned about keeping our relationship with God simple so we can better live for Him. After church we went to Subway and picked up sandwiches for lunch outside by the pool. We went in the house after lunch to relax and watch some movies together. While we watched movies from her collection Sammy rubbed and scratched on my back because it’s her talent and I love her touch. Later that evening I met Darleen and Cody her step mom and step brother when they got home from Disney World. We all had Bojangles chicken for dinner that night and watched some shows on TV. The next day was Sammy’s actual birthday so as soon as we got up I had mom bring me to her house.

For her birthday she just wanted to spend the day with me. We watched more movies in the living room and later we got sat on the couch together so we could be a little closer. Later in the evening her dad cooked out on the grill and once again we celebrated the day my Baby and her sister were born. After eating dinner we had cake, sang happy birthday and gave out cards and gifts. When we were done we all sat around and watched Forest Gump. Alicia Sammy’s sisters girlfriend didn’t know something about the movie so everyone started saying it was filmed in Beaufort to pick on her. They were being silly over something simple and I had a lot of fun laughing with them. Sammy’s house really was starting to feel like home. I was happy about the day she was born and from that day I know she has relied on the Lord. From the womb her life has been hard but from the moment she could make a decision I know she has chosen to praise God. Both of us chose to follow God when we were small children. God knit us together inside our mother, He fearfully and wonderfully created us so we could praise Him (Ps. 139:13-14). God called out to and set us apart from our mother’s womb, grace called out when Jesus was revealed to us so we would tell others of Him. In that moment when he calls age or the counsel of others doesn’t matter, it’s between us and God (Gal. 1:15-16). Everyone in every nation, on every continent needs to hear that the Lord has called us from before we were born while we were still in the womb (Isa. 49:1). Birthdays are important to celebrate the beginning of when God first chose us. On that day we should gather in our homes and invite loved ones to share it with us (Job 1:4). We had a nice full day together on Sammy’s birthday but unfortunately the next day after lunch from Taco Bell it was time to part ways again. We always dreaded saying bye but we knew God would soon bring us together again.

Lord we thank you for calling us from the womb. It maybe took time to answer Lord but now we praise you because it is by your grace we have been saved. Help us God to share your calling out to others so that they might answer and follow you. We pray for the nations Lord that your spirit would be on the world leaders so that the gospel maybe preached around the world so that more people will answer the call that needs no consult of any human being. In Jesus name, Amen.

We pray the Lord will touch our readers. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk about what He did and is still doing. The best thing God’s done is send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will invite the Lord into their lives by asking Him to forgive their sins and believing that He is the Son of God. Please share testimonies, feedback or encouraging words by email at: we enjoy hearing from you. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website , by email, Facebook and Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
