Tuesday’s Torch

10/24/17

By: Tim Sader

May the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:23)

Right before going to the revival in Florida my family tried out a church I wanted to attend. I knew it was the right church for me and we attended there seven years until I got married in 2015. As I learned more to seek the Lord and hear from Him I had a series of ten dreams that all felt related to the hand of God dream and an idea that began to grow when I was in the hospital. I noticed there was a hole in healthcare that could be filled by Christ and the church. Hospitals mainly treat the physical body and mental conditions but do very little for the spirit and soul. We are made up of three parts and when we are down sometimes all three parts need treatment. The Christian Healthcare Commission (CHC) is an all-inclusive plan that became a three part mission to handle the other parts of our being. When Jesus sent out the twelve disciples he told them to proclaim the kingdom of heaven is near and for them to heal the sick, raise the dead and drive out demons (Mt. 10:7-8). Because they had received so much from Jesus He told them to freely give to others. We all know that Jesus miraculously healed multitudes of sick people but for whatever reason our percentage of healing in this way is much lower. This doesn’t mean we cannot bring healing to those who are weak and feeble or that they cannot be healed. What it means is that we need to do something to help healing happen. No church is any stronger than those who are most weak among them and it is our God given duty to help them heal. Phase one is all about enabling the disabled to become the Beabled. Anyone who is down and out can Beabled by a new outlook on life and the support of those around them. Even if we face death all day long we are more than conquers through Christ who loved us (Romans 8:36-37). The Beabled approach life differently they don’t only look at current circumstances but at the possitive side of life. They practice living by faith and not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7). They also believe that we can do all things through Him who strengthens us (Phil. 4:13). Beabled ministry presents these ideas in a way where members can easily grow and be strengthened in their faith.

The first phase has a lot to do with what we can do to build those in most desperate need of a touch from the Lord. Whatever we do for those who feel least we do it onto the Lord (Mt. 25:40). Phase two is about us finding our proper place in the church so that together we can grow stronger into the body of Christ. Body Builders will be a social media site with tools to help believers find their place in the body and use their gifts to reach out to others at home and across the globe. Just like our body has many members that all have different functions in the body of Christ we all have different gifts that make us have different functions. Each of our function has equal importance because we belong to eachother and together we are the universal body of Christ (Rom. 12:4-5). We all receive a gift not so much so we can be blessed but so we can be a blessing to others. Through the mosaic section on the website members would be able to reach out to other believers so that they can be used in incredible ways throughout the global church. One other feature of the site will be stories of the faith where users can share testimonies, music, revelation, teaching so we can grow together. The final phase of this revelation is a Christian Healthcare Community where we would treat every part of a person not only the body. Clinics and Hospitals would integrate with prayer, teaching and other spiritual practices to treat the spirit. The community would be funded and employed by churches and believers. There would be an insurance that would share the cost of the overall healthcare of all members and the needy. There is a hole in healthcare and through these ministries healing is possible for the whole man.

Lord I ask that we would ultimately see you as our healer and help us to know nothing is impossible through you. I ask that we would be on the look out to help those whose struggle seems more difficult than our own so that we can build them up. Please help us Lord to learn the gifts that you have given us so that we can do our function in the church. Lord we ask that a Christian Medical Community would rise up and chage the way we see healing so the whole person will be made well. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Tuesday’s Torch

10/17/17

By: Tim Sader

Listen and hear my voice; pay attention and hear what I say. (Isaiah 28:23)

After I was sick and got my life right with the Lord a group of us took a faith journey to the revival in Florida so we could feel the Spirit in tangible ways. Right before we went to Florida there was a church I heard about in a book I read many years previously not knowing it was near me. While watching GodTV I was reacquainted with MorningStar Fellowship when I saw their program on there. It showed their church is in Fort Mill, SC so I had to check it out since it was less than thirty miles from my front door. To get there I had to convince someone to bring me and it had been years since we went to church as a family so it felt impossible. One weekend after going to eat near there I asked if we could drive out to the old Heritage USA which is now MorningStar. It was shortly after a service but Mom decided to go in and check it out hoping to get some kind of feeling about whether we should try it out. To her surprise she felt great peace when she went in and walked around so her, my brother and I decided we would try it out. One Sunday near Easter we decided to get up early so we could get there for the second service at eleven. Right before we left my friend Terry saw us getting ready to leave and decided to come with us to MorningStar. The building they have services in is actually the atrium of Heritage International Ministries Confrence Center and Hotel. There is a rounded stage with large white columns in the front center where they preach from. There are elevators on both ends, a pit area off to one side and four stories of open walkways overlooking the sanctuary. On the first visit it seems a bit distracting but after a while it’s easy to get used to. Terry felt uncomfortable with a café selling coffee and pastries before church so he waited at the van for us. I think he overreacted some but it just wasn’t the place for him. I had waited almost ten years to go to church there and from the moment I went through their doors I knew that I was in the right place at the right time. Suddenly I was in a place that got me spiritually and I enjoyed the freedom they allowed so that we could learn to hear from the Lord how He wanted to use us.

MorningStar is a church unlike most churches I have attended. Their main focus is on the prophetic ministry being restored to us in the last day church. We must learn to choose life and live in the blessings of God. If we love Him we will learn to listen to His voice. He is our life and will lead us into the Promised Land if we follow His leadership (Dt. 30:19-20). To listen to the Lord it is important that we pay attention so that we can hear what He is saying to us. God rarely speaks to us in an audible voice and if he does often times it is a whisper. God speaks to us through signs, wonders, dreams, prophetic experiences, words of wisdom, knowledge and through other people. At MorningStar I learned about these spiritual gifts and saw them at work in my life and through others. No matter which way we go in life we need to hear that voice behind us telling us the right way to go (Isa. 30:21). This is what prophetic ministry does for us. Those who listen to the voice of the Lord are His sheep. He knows us if we follow His voice (Jn. 10:27). Every day God is waiting for us to hear Him speak and He will if we don’t harden our hearts and tune Him out with our rebellion (Heb. 3:15). When we receive a prophetic message if it is reliable we should pay attention to it like a light shining in the dark until it comes to light what is in our heart. No prophecy in scripture was interpreted by the prophet so prophecy must always come into agreement with scripture. Though through people God may speak what is spoken should always come from the Holy Spirit (2 Pt. 1:19-21). The Lord knocks at our door, if we hear His voice and are open to it He will have fellowship with us (Rev. 3:20). At MorningStar I learned that the Lord has a message to communicate to us and all we have to do is open ourselves to His voice and listen to what the Spirit is saying to us.

Hearing from God is the one thing every believer wishes to achieve in their Christian life but very few of us are willing to invest the time it takes to clearly hear from Him. We pray God show us this, why does that, ask Him questions, tell Him to help us or guide us but we will not listen long enough for Him to answer. What is far worse is thinking that the ways He speaks are silly and not being open to what seems to be hocus pocus. If we will purpose to listen to Him He will speak to us in ways and through experiences we never thought possible.

Lord I pray first that you would speak to as clearly as you can so that we will not miss what your Spirit is saying to us. Also I pray Lord that we would have the desire to invest the time it takes to clearly hear from you however you chose to speak. Open our heart to every possibility for hearing you and free our mind from being closed off to you doing impossible things in our lives. Help us now to pay attention and hear what you are saying to us. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Tuesday’s Torch

10/10/17

By: Tim Sader

Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? (Psalm 85:6)

When I got sick from too much carbon dioxide in my blood I experienced the hand of God descending upon me and after that I knew I would win this battle in my body. Recovery felt daunting for a while but each day I felt stronger and was getting used to the new medical equipment to help me breath properly. I had been away from church for five or six years at that time in my life but seeing God how I saw Him made me want to dedicate my life to Him forever. After getting ready for the day I would watch several preachers I enjoyed listening to for hours a day. When I got on the computer I would read four chapters in my bible and explore the scriptures. When the weather got warm again I would go for prayer walks around town and had prayer time in the park every day. I began to feel alive again as I drew closer to the Lord than I had ever been previously. In spring of 2008 GodTV cancelled all their evening programming for many months to show the Lakeland Revival in Florida. It was growing in numbers, signs and wonders every night as people gathered from around the world to better know the Lord. Being in the glorious precense of God becomes addicting and I desperately wanted to experience what I was seeing for myself. A friend of mine Terry came by one day while watching the revival with my brother and he sat down and watched it with us. He is a believer in God but not much a fan of organized religion or TV preachers, he was a sceptic but intrigued by what he was seeing. I kept watching the revival nightly and after a few days Terry felt like we needed to go there. At first he assumed it was for my brother and me to get some kind of healing from the Lord but later he learned it was a spiritual awakening for himself. I was saving personal money I had left from the skate park so we used it to take a trip to the Revival in Florida. Terry, his wife and son loaded up with my brother and me in our big old Chevy van so we could have our faith adventure. It truly was a test of faith because we left our care givers and they had to help us instead. It was worth feeling revival like that and we were all blessed to experience this outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

The thing I remember most about the two nights we spent in revival meetings was for us to go home and spread the fire into our communities. We had an understanding that the Lord wants to revive us again so that we can rejoice in Him. The hand of God rests on the man at His right hand, Jesus His son was raised up for Himself. Through Him we are not turned away from the Lord; He will revive us for Christ sake so that we will call on His name. Restoration comes in Jesus name and the Lords face shines on us so that we may be saved (Ps. 80:17-19). When we experience revival and rejoice in the Lord we see His unfailing love through Him granting our salvation (Ps. 85:6-7). The Lord says that He lives in a high and holy place but also with those who are lowly and repentant in spirit so that they may be revived (Is. 57:15). I cannot think of a time in my life where I felt lower in my spirit than when I was in the hospital trying to get well. When my life felt like it was on the line I wanted to be sure I had everything right with the Lord. This brought revival to my spirit I was hungry to experience the Lord and I needed to feel Him in the realest way I could. Studying my bible and seeing this revival unfold on TV would never make me feel the Lord like I wanted to feel Him. I felt like I had been torn to pieces but after getting sick I full heartedly returned to the Lord and experienced healing in my life. Soon after we return to the Lord He will revive and restore our lives so that we may live in His presence (Hos. 6:1-2). I’m not real sure that I spread the Spirit of revival right away but I had it in my life and have done everything I can to share the word of God with others through my writing.

It may not always be necessary to chase the anointing for us to experience Him in very real ways. Wherever His Spirit is we can have revival in our lives. Often times it is sad to say that we find Him most in the lowest places of our lives because that is when we most urgently need Him. The Lord happily will receive us when we have been prodigal sons and daughters but how much greater would it be if we never left in the first place? We can have revival always in our lives if we will love the Lord like he already is in love with us.

Lord I pray that we will not wait until our lives hit rock bottom before we show you the devotion that you are desperate for us to show you. If we are almost to that point or already there help us to feel no condemnation when we make it back to you. I know Lord that you always are on the side of the underdog and we all have been there. Lord we ask that wherever we are at in our relationship with you that you would revive us again so that we may rejoice in you. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Tuesday’s Torch

10/03/17

By: Tim Sader

But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. (Luke 11:20)

After trying hard to get a skate park built in my town to help young people have something to do; it fell through when money wasn’t available and the kids lost interest. Following back to back failures in the business and nonprofit world I was tired of things not working out. For some time I didn’t do much except read books during the week and party with friends on the weekend. That got old fast so I got busy working on a book I had started and contemplated for a while. It was a fictional story about a teen boy and his struggles dealing with disability and fear of the unknown struggles in his life. During National Novel Writing Month I took the challenge to finish my book or have at least 50,000 words when it was done. During the beginning of the month I submerged my life into my main character Wes Mathews and his fears became mine and I didn’t know why. Turns out I was sicker then I had ever been in my life and ended up taking a few trips to two different hospitals. We didn’t understand why this suddenly happened; I do have Muscular Dystrophy and respiratory complications aren’t uncommon but until then I never had them. During this time in the hospital I was reunited with my best friend Jesus and He helped me pull through. After some painful blood tests the problem I had was too much oxygen because I could not properly exhale my carbon dioxide. In the first hospital I was being poisoned by oxygen because they kept me hooked up to it. Even too much of a good thing can be bad in excess. I was delusional, my vision was blurred and people looked like giants. I was conscience but I was scared. One night I had a dream of being in a fancy auditorium. The building was renaissance-ish and much of the expanse was golden. Suddenly it opened up and flooded with light. I saw a giant hand coming down out of heaven. Inside the hand descended on me as if I were a flea. One finger seemed larger than a tall building but I was not afraid. Actually this hand was to protect me and I felt safe. This hand was the mighty hand of God and I knew it would all be okay.

While lying in that hospital bed faced with so much uncertainty I had a lot of time to think. I thought a lot about my life and the choices I had made so far. I got to thinking about what I wanted to do for the rest of my life if I’d get to live it. When we are faced with any kind of battle in life God is with us and is able to bring us through. There is no need to be fainthearted or afraid, panicked or terrified because God is with us and will give us the victory (Dt. 20:1-4). We are commanded to be strong and courageous, not afraid or discouraged because the Lord our God will be with us wherever we go (Jos. 1:9). God is big, all powerful and all knowing this is why falling into His hands can be a dreadful thing (Heb. 10:31). This is true for those who oppose Him but in my time of need there seemed to be nowhere safer than when I was under His hand. God is not restricted by size but heaven is His throne and the earth His footstool so no matter how beautiful a building it compares nothing to what He has already created. In my dream of Him I was in a grand room covered in gold but the roof came off so I could experience the finger of God. With His finger He wrote commandments on tablets of stone after he met with Moses on Mount Sinai (Ex. 31:18). When Jesus delivered a man from demonic possession the Pharisees said he did it by evil power. Jesus said a kingdom cannot be divided against its self and still stand. But if He did this by the finger of God then the kingdom of heaven has come near to us. When I experienced just the finger of God I understood that the difficulties I was facing had no power that God could not defeat. I knew that His hand was protecting me and that heaven had come to visit me so that through the difficult road of recovery I would know God is with us.

Life gets scary when circumstances move into the out of my control category but God can be a relief from those fears if we will let Him be that for us. No enemy we face can even match up against just one of God’s fingers. Enemies are not usually another person because God loves us all. The real enemy is fear and hopelessness, anything that is out to steal our life, our joy or separate us from God are the real enemies that we face. If we believe this then we know He is the solution to all our troubles.

Lord I thank you that you will never leave us or forsake us and as we learn to trust you we ask that you would give us the strength to face our greatest trials and fear. We know that you have not given us a spirit of fear so we ask that your finger would squash our fear like a bug so we can be more aware of your power, love and peace in our lives. Help us to know that you are here with us and that the reality of heaven has touched our lives. In Jesus Name, Amen.
