Tuesdays Torch week 390

Tuesday’s Torch

06/28/16

By: Tim Sader

The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever. (Psalm 29:10)

Last week we learned that the enemy was stripped of all the power he had when Christ raised from the dead. Our song was Death Was Arrested by North Point. The Lord our God sits on His throne over the flood; when every living creature was destroyed by the flood God was seated above the waters. God is enthroned as King forever. Today our song is Only King Forever by Elevation Worship. The link to the song is https://youtu.be/7ypXUd_vGmI or search for the song and artist on YouTube. God our firm foundation; the rock and solid ground for us to build our lives upon. Nations rise and fall; strong kingdoms now are being shaken. We forever trust in His name, the name of Jesus. We trust in that name alone. Almighty God is the Only King Forever; we lift His name up higher. The only King forevermore, He is victorious. Jesus is King He will rule and reign as King over all the earth. His everlasting throne was established by King David, Jesus distant family member. God promised that his throne would be everlasting throughout all generations. Whatever God says He does so Christ will claim the throne of David and from there He will govern the earth. When Jesus came they didn’t recognize Him as king the way they envisioned their King would be. Before rejecting Him completely He was welcomed into Jerusalem by those who thought He would finally rise up and defeat Rome. They kind of missed it; but I wonder are we still missing it? Christ is still King but how many of us honor Him the way we would honor a King? When someone is subject to the king they give their life in service to Him; to fulfill His desires and not their own. I am certain I could better serve Him as I’m sure most us could. The Only King Forever asks very little of us except that we give our hearts to Him and trust that everything we ever need ultimately comes from Him.

The Lord is good to all; having compassion on everything He has created. All His works give praise to Him and if we are faithful we will extol Him. We will highly praise Him and tell others of His kingdom so they will know about His glorious and mighty deeds. His kingdom is everlasting enduring through all generations. We can trust this because He is faithful in all that He does (Psalm 145:9-13). King Nebuchadnezzar took great pleasure in telling about the signs and wonders God had done for Him. This king of Babylon saw many miraculous signs so much that he knew God’s kingdom is eternal enduring for all generations (Daniel 4:2-3). The Lord reigns forever as our God; all generations may praise the Lord because He is in control (Psalm 146:10). Our King would be born from a virgin in Bethlehem; an angel said to her that she will conceive and give birth to a son, and call him Jesus. He will be called the Son of God and claim the throne of His father David, He will remain king over Israel forever and His kingdom will have no end (Luke 1:31-33). We have been commanded to flee from all wickedness, pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness and to fight the good fight of the faith. We are to keep these commands until the appearing of Christ our Only King Forever. Our God is King of kings and Lord of lords, the ultimate Ruler forever (1 Timothy 6:14-15). When the end comes satan will wage war against Christ but the Lamb will triumph because He is King; His called, chosen and faithful followers will be with Him (Revelation 17:14). We may identify our Only King Forever by His robe and thigh, His name is on them: King of kings and Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16).

Tuesday’s Torch

06/21/16

By: Tim Sader

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10)

Last week we learned about being in the presence of God and what we can do to live our lives in that place. Our song was In You Presence by Elevation Worship. Sometimes our enemy, “the thief” comes to try and rob us from the presence of God. If only he can steal this from us will he be able to kill or destroy us. Christ came to give us life and to give it more abundantly. If we remain in His presence we will not let the enemy to come near us. Today our song is Death Was Arrested by North Point InsideOut. The link to the song is https://youtu.be/kc9LP4h0Uxw or search for the song and artist on YouTube. Before Christ we were alone in our sorrow and dead in our sin. Lost without a hope we had no place to begin until love made a way to let mercy come in. That’s when Death Was Arrested and our life began. His grace washes us clean, we have been made new because our life begins with the Lord. His never ending love pours down on us as our life is made new in Him. Jesus the image of God in the flesh is the first born of all creation. All things were created by and through Him; His authority is over every power in all of creation. He is head of the church; the beginning and firstborn from among the dead and in everything He reigns supreme. God was pleased that Christ made reconciliation for all things making peace through His shed blood (Colossians 1:15-20). When we were dead in sin God made us alive with Christ. He forgave our sin and cancelled the legal charges that condemned us to death by taking them upon Himself and nailing them to the cross. He disarmed the authority and power of those charges by triumphing over them on that cross (Colossians 2:13-15). When Jesus was arrested, Death Was Arrested, that was the beginning of His ultimate plan to redeem us from our sins.

Since Christ has been raised from the dead we know that He cannot die again; death holds Him back no longer. The death He died, He died to sin but the life He lives, He lives to God (Romans 6:9-10). If death could not stop Him and He died to sin then sin has no power over those of us who believe. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification (Romans 4:25). If by the trespass of one man death reigned through him, how much will we who’ve received the grace of God and gift of righteousness reign in life through one man, Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17)! Death Was Arrested when Jesus brought us from death into life with Him. At one time we were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by our passions. We lived in spite, envy and hatred toward others and them on us. When the kindness of God appeared, He saved us, not because of our righteousness but by His mercy. He saved us through washing, rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom we generously received through Christ our Savior. So having justification by His grace, we may become heirs having the hope of eternal life (Titus 3:3-7). He saved us and called us to a holy life not by anything we have done but because of His purpose and grace. This grace was given by Christ from the beginning but now it was revealed when He became our Savior destroying death, bringing life and immortality to light through the gospel (2 Timothy 1:9-10). Since we have flesh and blood, Christ shared in our humanity so that by His death, He broke the power of the enemy who holds the power of death and freed those who were held in slavery by their fear of death (Hebrews 2:14-15). Death Was Arrested when the enemy’s power was broken and abundant life came upon us at our salvation.

Tuesdays Torch week 388

Tuesday’s Torch

06/14/16

By: Tim Sader

Surely the righteous will praise your name, and the upright will live in your presence. (Psalm 140:13)

Last week we learned how we let God do what He wants to do in our life so we can accomplish His will. Our song was Do What You Want To by Vertical Church Band. If we let ourselves be used by God in this way we are practicing righteousness and we will praise His name. Those whose walk is upright will live in the presence of God. Today our song will be In Your Presence by Elevation Worship. The link to the song is https://youtu.be/kc9LP4h0Uxw or search for the song and artist on YouTube. In the presence of our God there is freedom, hope and healing. His love restores us and makes us whole. No matter how far we run or if we fall He still is with us. His love and kindness have no end because He will never leave us. His presence goes before us and His glory is without end. In Your Presence there is power, through your spirit our strength will rise. There is mercy In Your Presence and by it we are made alive. Throughout my life I have experienced the presence of God more times than I can count. Sometimes in different situations I have felt the presence of God physically and emotionally. Many believe His presence is comfortable but in my experience it usually isn’t comfortable not at first. As a child and teenager when I first started feeling His presence it felt like a heavy weight pressing in on me. Now I recognize the presence because it more often than not brings me to tears. In the presence of the Lord with our families we may rejoice in everything because He has blessed us (Deuteronomy 12:7). In Your Presence God we find great love for us.

God is not pleased with wickedness; evil people are not welcome by Him. The arrogant cannot stand in His presence and He hates when we do wrong. Liars are destroyed; the Lord detests the blood-thirsty and deceitful (Psalm 5:4-6). If we have willingly taken a stand for Jesus in our lives we are not practicing such things. We are instead letting Him perfect us through the grace of God and the Holy Spirit. The Lord makes known to us the path of life; we are filled with joy in His presence, with eternal pleasure at His right hand (Psalm 16:11). Jesus is at Gods right hand it is because of Jesus we can have pleasure for all of eternity. When we have integrity He upholds us and we are in His presence forever (Psalm 41:12). We are blessed by the light of His presence when we learn to acclaim that He is our God (Psalm 89:5). This is what we do when sing In Your Presence to Him. We acclaim that He has done great things in our lives. The righteous will praise the Lord and those who are upright will live in the presence of God. The path of life has been laid out for us to follow and He will fill us with joy when we enter into the presence of our Father (Acts 2:28). Jesus tells us that He is the way for us to follow so that we can approach the Lord. God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ has cleared the way for us to come to them. Now may our love increase and overflow for each other and everyone else. May our hearts be strong in the Lord so that we will be blameless and holy in the presence of God our Father and when Jesus returns with all His holy ones (1 Thessalonians 3:11-13). Jesus is the way for us to come and because of our coming to Him now we must love others like He loved us and we will be blameless before our God. In Your Presence God is where we want to be, each and every day as we come. I pray we will feel and see Him move in tangible ways like we never have experienced before.
