Tuesdays Torch week 386

Tuesday’s Torch

When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. (Matthew 25:31)

Last week we learned that we can come to God how we are because of Jesus sacrifice for us. Our song last week was Come As You Are by Crowder. There is a day approaching in the future when Jesus comes in all His glory, the angels will be with Him and He will sit on His throne over all the earth. To some this will be dreadful but it will be glorious for everyone who knows the Lord. Days like these only come around when God so chooses to deal with man and His desire to sin against Him. Today our song will be Glorious Day by Casting Crowns. The link to the song is https://youtu.be/nAbs8bNWL5U or search for the song title and artist on YouTube. One day heaven was praising the Lord and sin was still black as it could be. This is when Jesus came to be born of a virgin so He could dwell among us. Our example, the Word became flesh to shine His light in our lives and reveal His glory to us. Other glorious days were creation, the flood, ten plagues in Egypt, splitting the Red Sea, the law received on the mountain, Jesus birth, death, resurrection and us receiving the Holy Spirit. These days happen globally, nationally and personally. A recent Glorious Day for me was when I got married to my wife. We know beyond a shadow of doubt that the Lord brought us together because long distance barely works when two people can drive themselves and neither of us can drive ourselves. Other glorious days for me were my brother surviving birth, seeing Jesus, my salvation, seeing the Grand Canyon, landing in Australia and coming back from almost dying three times.

For these we sing of His glorious name (Psalm 66:2). We sing to let the world know about all the glorious things He has done for us (Isaiah 12:5). The works of the Lord are great and we think about them if we delight in Him. Glorious and majestic are all His deeds and His righteousness endures forever (Psalm 111:2-3). When the Lord works a Glorious Day happens and we praise Him to show that we honor Him for it. By speaking about the glory of the kingdom and His might we let people know who God is. His kingdom is everlasting and His dominion endures through all generations. He is trustworthy to His promises and faithful in all He does (Psalm 145:11-13). There is no kingdom like our God’s where the king can be trusted and praised, we should celebrating this kingdom. The day when the Son of Man sits on the throne, on that Glorious Day the world will experience His glory. The Root of Jesse will be a banner for all people, the nations will rally to Him and His place of rest will be glorious (Isaiah 11:10). That is the place He said He was going away to prepare for us to share with Him. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon blood red before the great and Glorious Day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Acts 2:20-21). Most glorious this day will be if indeed we do call on His great name. To experience His glory we continually ask God to fill us with the knowledge of His wisdom and understanding through the Spirit, so our lives are pleasing to the Him. We bear fruit in every good work, grow in godly knowledge, are strengthened with power according to His might so we may have endurance and patience giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to share the inheritance in the kingdom of God (Colossians 1:9-12). In us God made known the mystery that is Christ in us the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). Everyday has the potential to be a glorious one in Christ and on one Glorious Day all will gather together and experience His glory.

Tuesdays Torch week 385

Tuesday’s Torch

05/24/16

By: Tim Sader

All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. (John 6:37)

Last week we learned that since Jesus lives again and forever we can face anything if we believe in Him. Our song for last week was Because He Lives by Matt Maher. It is the will of God the Father that if we believe in His Son we will have eternal life. If we come to Jesus; He will never drive us away from Him. All He asks is that we come to Him and in Him the changes may begin. Our song today will be Come As You Are by Crowder. The link to the song is https://youtu.be/HELQyZNnR-g or search for the song title and artist on YouTube. In Him we come out of sadness from whatever made us that way. The broken hearted may come to let rescue begin. Sinners find mercy in Him when they come kneel. There is no sorrow on earth that heaven can’t heal. We lay down our burdens, shame and pain; when we are broken we only need to lift up our face. Even if we’ve wandered we’re never too far to return to Him. We lay our hurts and heart down and we Come As You Are to Him. For the most part when we finally give our hearts fully to the Lord we come to Him in quite a mess. Like a prodigal we come to our heavenly Father after wasting the life He provided for us until we find ourselves muddy and without hope. God is not angry; He says Come As You Are. I will help and improve the situation that made us hit rock bottom. When we come to the Lord He will never drive us away from Him. He is the Father waiting from a far with a ring and a robe to honor us for coming home again.

The Lord tells us to listen up and come to Him so that we may live. In Christ a covenant was made to us as He promised to David that He would because He loved him (Isaiah 55:3). This makes us able to approach God and be washed from the filth of our sin. Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” He will take the heavy load off our back so we may learn to carry His easier load (Matthew 11:28-30). When we come wherever we are at we are trusting Him to take our burdens and lighten our load. If we are thirsty in life we may come drink of Christ and rivers of living water will flow out from within us (John 7:37-38). All of us can come to Him from wherever we are and have drink when we choose to believe in Christ. Righteousness is given us through faith in Him. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, all of us are sinners and fall short of God’s glory so all are justified freely by grace through the redemption that came by Christ (Romans 3:22-24). The Lord is no respecter of persons everyone is born a sinner therefore redemption can be made equally for us all. Christ is able to save those who come to God through Him because at all times He makes intersession for us (Hebrews 7:25). Christ is there at Gods right hand saying they can come because they have chosen me and I made a way for them. When we come as we are to Him God will come more near to us. First we must come then He can work on cleaning up our sins and purifying our hearts from being double-minded (James 4:8). We Come As You Are to Him and through Christ the redemptive work can be done in us. If what we do brings us no condemnation we will have confidence before God and receive from Him whatever we ask because we keep His commands and do what pleases Him (1 John 3:21). Christ removed the condemnation of our sins so we can come to God as we are with confidence knowing intersesion is being made for all our needs. Come As You Are to Him and He will make us whatever it is we were always meant to be.

Tuesdays Torch week 384

Tuesday’s Torch

05/17/16

By: Tim Sader

I am crucified with Christ, I no longer live but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)

Last week we learned that God is faithful and no matter what He always comes through. The song we lifted up our praises to was Always by Kristian Stanfill. When Christ was crucified we were given opportunity to crucify our flesh with Him. If we chose to do so He will always live in us. Because He lives we live by faith in the Son of God, who loved us enough to die for our sins on the Cross. Today’s song will be Because He Lives by Matt Maher. The link to the song is https://youtu.be/PBvU7arNhQs or search for the song title and artist on YouTube. We believe the Son of God is the risen one and we overcome by the power of His blood. We are alive Because He Lives; our song joins with His song that has no end. We were dead in the grave covered by our sin and shame but mercy called to us and the stone was rolled away. This is all possible because Jesus Christ was dead and now He lives again. Because He Lives I received salvation at a young age, escaped death several times, have hope I will see loved ones again, I’m still breathing and I found the best wife in the world. Since He is alive I know there is always a place that I can turn to when troubles come. By faith the life we live in this body we live for Him. Because He Lives and loved us He willingly gave His own life so we could be reunited to our rightful place of fellowship with the Lord.

If Christ is in us even though our bodies are subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of His righteousness. And if the Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is in us then He will also give life to our mortal bodies (Romans 8:10-11). Because He Lives we have life in our bodies. We also carry the death of Jesus with us so that His life maybe revealed in our bodies. We who are alive were given over to death for Christ so His life would be shown in us (2 Corinthians 4:10-11). Because He Lives we die to live for Him. Since we received Jesus as Lord we must continue to live our lives in Him so we will be rooted and built up, strengthened in the faith and flowing over with thankfulness (Colossians 2:6-7). He lives so we must continue to live for Him. In Him the building is joined together and it rises to become a holy temple to the Lord. We are being built together to be a dwelling in which the Spirit of God lives (Ephesians 2:21-22). Since He lives our lives can be built on Him as we make a place for the Lord. Jesus lives forever so His priesthood is permanent this is why He can save those who come to God through Him because He lives to intercede for us (Hebrews 7:24-25). Because He Lives the Son of God is always interceding for us. We know what love is because Jesus laid His life down for us. So in a way we should be willing to lay aside our own lives for others. If a brother or sister is in need and we feel no pity how can the love of God be in us? We must not love with words alone but with our deeds (1 John 3:16-18). We know how to love because with His own life Christ showed us how to. His command is that we believe in Jesus Christ the Son of God and that we would love one another. If we keep His commands we live in Him and He in us. And we know that He lives in us by the Spirit that He gave us (1 John 3:23-24). Because He Lives, if we believe in Him we will love others like He loved us.  He is the creator and nothing would happen if He didn’t have something to do with it. Because He Lives we can do everything that we cannot do without Him.
