Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. (Psalm 8:1)
Last week we learned that the Lord God or Messiah and Savior is our Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest. We praised Him with the song Hosanna by Hillsong. Jesus gave God the highest Glory due to Him for His powerful and majestic name. The Father however returned most of that glory back to the Son by giving Him a name above all names. No matter how we slice it God the Father and the Son have a name we should honor above everything. Today we will praise the Lord with the song Blessed Be Your Name by Matt Redman. The link to this song is https://youtu.be/PnWKehsOXu8 or search for the song title and artist on Youtube. The name of the Lord is the name from which streams of abundance flow. Even in the wilderness and when darkness closes in we can remember our blessings and turn them back to praise. When the sun is shining and all is well in our world, in pain and suffering we can say Blessed Be Your Name, O Lord. It is a relationship of give and take; He gives, we take and if we show Him the proper respect we give it back with our praise and devotion. These things seem very small in comparison to everything the Lord has done to bless us and to let us live the life we choose. Let’s face it God does at least 99 percent of the giving while we stand there waiting with our hands out. One percent of us give back to Him maybe ten percent of our time, money and energy. This is not right my friends that is why praise means so much to the Lord because it is our chance to say thanks God for everything.
The name of the Lord is majestic in all the earth and He set His glory in the heavens. In God we make our boast all day long and we praise His name forever (Psalm 44:8). We make our boast in Him because of His abundant blessings to mankind and to us as individuals. We remember Him and give it back with our praises. It is good to praise the Lord and make music to Him because His name is most blessed among all names (Psalm 92:1). We hear about the importance of having a good name so people think well of us. This is important but it is better to bring glory to the name of the Lord; He loves us and is always faithful (Psalm 115:1). The name of the Lord is unflawed because He is reliable and does no wrong. The Lord our God; we will exalt and praise His name, in perfect faithfulness He has done wonderful things that He already planned for us long ago (Isaiah 25:1). The good things God does for us are not some random prize we were selected to receive; they were planned by Him way before our birth. This is why when we pray we are instructed by Christ to say, “Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come (Luke 11:2). Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. The will of God is goodness and He planned it for us long ago. When Jesus knew His life was about to end He prayed for those of us who would follow Him. He prayed we would be protected by the power of the name of the Lord, the name given to Him so we could be one with Them (John 17:11). The Father exalted His Son Jesus to the highest place by giving Him the name above all names. At His name every knee should bow, in heaven, on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God (Philippians 2:9-11). Blessed be the name of the Lord. Blessed Be Your Name, I’ll always find a way to say blessed be your glorious name.
