“Now will I arise,” says the Lord. “Now will I be exalted; now will I be lifted up.” (Isaiah 33:10)
Last week we learned about the good things God is doing and our song was Every Good Thing by The Afters. The Lord is high and lifted up above everything concerning anything that we have a limited knowledge of. Even His goodness is so far above our understanding that we could spend eternity trying to learn about it and would barely be able to scratch the surface. Today we will praise the Lord because His name is so much higher than all of creation. We praise the name of the Lord because His name alone is exalted; His splendor is above the earth and the heavens (Psalm 148:13). Our song for this week is Praises (Be Lifted Up) by Josh Baldwin. The link to this song is https://youtu.be/8Nly1vFSK-E or search for the song title and artist on Youtube. We lift up the name of the Lord because all honor belongs to Him. We sing praises to the name that is above all other names. He is above everything we love or hate, above sickness, disease, financial problems, divorce, depression, fear, above life, death and sin. The Lord is exalted above our city, nation, the world, our solar system, galaxy and the whole universe. It was all created by Him so He is ultimately in control of it all. Now is when the Lord will rise among us, He will be exalted; He will Be Lifted Up. The more that we praise His name the more true the previous sentence will be. As we lift Him up with our praises He will be exalted in our lives and all the more He will arise among us. Let us lift Him up now together and honor Him in His true place of authority; over everything else in our lives.
The Lord lives! Praise be to our Rock! Exalted be God our Savior (Psalm 18:46)! Our God lives and moves among us; He is the Rock we can build upon. God is our savior so His name will be exalted. Those of us who know the Lord will praise Him; we will proclaim Him and make known among the nations all that He has done and exalt His holy name (Isaiah 12:4). While Israel was in the wilderness people would be bitten by snakes. The Lord instructed Moses to make a pole with a bronze snake on it and all the people, when bitten had to do was look at it when lifted up and they would get well. Likewise Jesus would be lifted up to cure us from sin and set us free from the works of the devil (John 3:14). Upon being lifted up we now know that Jesus was doing exactly what the Father showed Him to. God the Father was with the Son; He did not leave Him even in death because Jesus always did what was pleasing to Him (John 8:28-29). Because Christ was found not guilty to suffer a sinners death God the Father raised Him up so in Him our sins would be forgiven. When Christ was lifted up from the earth it would draw all people to Him (John 12:32). They would be drawn to Him because He loved them and through Him they would be forgiven. Not only are they forgiven by confessing Him as their savior they had to do very little for Him because it was finished on the cross. In other religions salvation is earned through works but in Christ it cannot be earned but it will make us want to do work for Him. Because of the Work of redemption God exalted the name of Jesus high above every name. At His name every knee should bow, in heaven, on earth, under the earth and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God (Philippians 2:9-11). Now let us allow Him to arise among us and Be Lifted Up to His rightful place in our lives.
