Tuesday’s Torch

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. (Psalm 90:14)

Last week we learned about angels with the song God of the Angel Armies by Jonathan David Helser. Angels are a benefit to believers in Christ; they do His work and keep us safe. We have heavenly armies watching over us because God loves and cares about how we thrive in this life. As a man this past year I have experienced love like I never had in previous encounters with people. I met the love of my life two years ago and last April we made it official. I thought I knew everything I could about loving her on that day and for that day I probably did. But the best part about loving my wife is that when I wake up with her I get to fall in love with her again and that is true happiness. In spite of everything I’ve learned about love we know very little in comparison to how God loves us. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins (1 John 4:10). No human being could die for our sins and very few would be willing to be crucified for even the most horrific sinners in all of humanity. Today our song will be How He Loves Us by John Mark McMillan. The link to this song is https://youtu.be/oZt9NCEqng4 or search for the song title and artist on Youtube. Just like my wife and I get a new day to fall in love again, we can be satisfied every morning by the unfailing love of God. For this reason we may sing for joy and be glad all of our days. We get to praise and worship Him to show we love Him and in Him we can all find true happiness.

The love of God toward us is great and His faithfulness endures forever (Psalm 117:2). How He Loves Us is great and we should praise Him for that. God remembers us in our lowest place. His love endures forever! Also He has freed us from our enemies; all because His love endures forever (Psalm 136:23-24). Once we were among the enemies of God; we gratified the cravings of our flesh, following its desires and thoughts. We all deserved the wrath of God. But because of How He Loves Us, He who is rich in mercy gave us eternal life through Christ. When we were deserving of death in hell it is by the grace of God that we were saved (Ephesians 2:3-5). He loved us so much that he saved us even when we did not deserve to be saved. This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us so we should lay our lives down for others. If we have material possessions while we show no pity on those who have nothing, how can we say the love of God is in us? Let us not love with words alone but through our actions and in truth (1 John 3:16-18). Christ showed us how to love so if we follow His example as dearly loved children walking in love we should do it like Him. And He gave Himself for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God (Ephesians 5:1-2). Since He became a sacrifice for us, giving our life in most cases will not be necessary but we can still give by finding ways to help others. We can give stuff, money, food, time, or our energy to satisfy those who have needs. In these things we lay down who we are and we share the love of Christ with others. We show them How He Loves Us. We recognize love because in it there is no fear; perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because God loved us. If we love God but hate anyone we are lying. If we do not love those we see how can we love God who we haven’t seen (1 John 4:18-20)? If we know How He Loves Us we will love others in a similar way.

Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is doing. The best thing God done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. Please share testimonies, feedback or encouraging words by email at: tuesdaystorch@gmail.com we enjoy hearing from you. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
