I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! (Revelation 3:15)

Last week we talked about the good things that God has done and is willing to do because of His great love for us. The more we seek Him the more of His goodness we will experience in our lives and the better He will make us. Our deeds, they are either good or bad and they make us hot or cold in our following the Lord. However it is not good for us to be somewhere in between hot and cold. It would be better for us to be either one or the other instead of being on the fence. The Lord seeks that we would love Him with our whole heart; anything less is offensive. We can’t tell someone I love you but only when I want to or only when it’s convenient for me. If I told my wife I love you right now except when I don’t want to she would be majorly hurt and it would damage our relationship. When we love it must be without restrictions and we cannot waiver in our steadfast love or it isn’t true. Those who have loved but were not loved in the same way by the other person understand the pain the Lord feels when we waiver between loving Him or not. Everyone who hasn’t been loved back would tell us that it’d be best to either be loved or never know that person. The pain of almost being loved is far worse than never being loved by another. If we are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold; He will spit us out of His mouth so it’d almost be better to reject Him all together (Revelation 3:16). If He has our heart we will give it all to Him and hold nothing back that would keep us cold toward Him.

To the people of Israel when Moses was on the mountain the glory of the Lord looked like a consuming fire (Exodus 24:17). To them it looked like God was a fire; that is the hottest thing they knew about. This means it seemed as if God was so hot that His glory consumed the mountain. The Lord our God is a consuming fire, He is a jealous God (Deuteronomy 4:24). God wants to be all consuming in our lives and wants for us to be sold out for Him. Anything else and He will be jealous; He longs that we would give Him our very best. So if God is hot everything that is in opposition to His will is cold and in-between is unacceptable to Him. In the end times many will turn away from the faith, they will betray and hate eachother. In those times many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold but if we stand firm until the end we will be saved (Matthew 24:10-13). Wickedness increasing is the reason many will grow cold. It doesn’t specifically say the wickedness of others so this may be their own participation in wickedness made their love of God grow cold. To avoid this happening we must watch our ways and keep our tongue from sin: we need to muzzle our mouth when in the presence of the wicked. We should remain silent, not even speaking what is good. As our anguish inside increases our heart will burn for the Lord. We must meditate and let the fire burn; then we can speak with our tongue (Psalm 39:1-3). The main point here is to think about everything we do and say around others; put everything through our God filter and meditate on His word before we speak. Also when we speak about it we maybe should just speak to Him about it. The Lord declares, “is not my word like fire and like a hammer that breaks a rock into pieces (Jeremiah 23:29)?” Relief will come to us who are troubled. It will happen when Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels (2 Thessalonians 1:7). We are hot or cold in our relationship with God. Being hot means we give Him everything we are and stand firm even when wickedness seems easier to endure.

Tuesdays Torch has an official website http://www.tuesdaystorch.com Daily Sparks and Scripture Pictures are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several will be looking for future speaking engagements soon. We pray the words of every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please share Tuesdays Torch and encourage others with it. Recently we partnered with leisurelane.wordpress.com please check it out and send them some love. Any ministries or blogs that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus their Savior; send a message to: tuesdaystorch@gmail.com and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
