The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. (Psalm 34:10)
Last week we talked about the harvest we produce in our lives based on the seeds we plant in it. The more God seeds we grow the more of Him we will be and our harvest will be abundant. God enjoys when He does good things for us. In the natural harvest is a good thing because it produces food for mankind. God has done many good things for me through the years though I’ve had constant challenges because of muscle disease. In a way some of the good things that have happened to have been available because of my weaknesses. When I was in middle school I took my family on two big trips. The first trip we took was to Arizona to spend Thanksgiving with my aunt. I was selected to represent the state of Minnesota where Northwest Airlines had their main hub for an art contest to have my picture put on the outside of a plane with participants from around the world. They flew us to anywhere in the USA since we didn’t get to fly to the winners retreat since it was in Minnesota. The second trip we took was to Australia for nine days after I wrote to Make-A-Wish and they granted my wish. Those were some of the first of the best good things the Lord has done for me. Other good things are breathing, shelter, spouses, children, grandchildren, being healthy, having wealth, friendships, learning, sunshine, technology, pets and clean laundry. In nature things don’t always go as planned; animals die when there is drought, famine or no food for them. However this is not so for those of us who seek the Lord; we will lack no good thing when we diligently seek Him. Good things may come for unexpected reasons but even in our setbacks we can find the favor of God.
When God brought Israel into the promise land they inherited large flourishing cities and all kinds of good things they had no part in making. They were told though not to forget the Lord who brought them out of Egypt (Deuteronomy 6:10-12). Israel got a lot of good things from God but were told, “Don’t forget me.” How often will God do good things for us and when something goes wrong we forget Him in the situation? God is a sun and a shield; He gives us favor and honor; no good thing will He withhold from those whose walk is blameless (Psalm 84:11). When our actions reflect His nature we will enjoy the good things in life. He fills the hungry and satisfies the thirsty with good things (Psalm 107:9). This may be why we are told to hunger and thirst for righteousness. Apart from the Lord we have no good thing (Psalm 16:2). Trouble pursues the sinner but the righteous are rewarded with good things (Proverbs 13:21). What we put in us, be it negative or positive that is what our lives will produce. A good person brings good things out of the good stored up in their heart, and evil people bring evil things out of the evil stored up in them (Matthew 12:35). When Christ became high priest of the good things we find in Him; He went through a greater and a more perfect tabernacle not made by man’s hands out of what was created. He did not enter by the blood of calves and goats; but entered the Most Holy Place once and for all by His own blood which grants us eternal redemption (Hebrews 9:11-12). Jesus is the best good thing we could ever ask for. I pray this message will be effective in deepening our understanding of every good thing we share in Christ and for His sake (Philemon 1:6). Good things that we do and good things that are done to us originate by the same source. God invented all good things so when good happens it happens because of Him.
Tuesdays Torch has an official website http://www.tuesdaystorch.com Daily Sparks and Scripture Pictures are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus their Savior; send a message to: firstname.lastname@example.org and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!
