God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth. (John 4:24)
Last week we learned the first God trait from when Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except by me (John 14:6). Jesus’s way is the perfect way for us to do everything because it will only lead us to the outcome we desire when our life is over. Not only is He the way but also He is the truth which is the second trait found in the above verse. He is the truth in all things because the truth is all He really knows. When two people have a dispute often times both parties involved will tell a different story about how the events unfolded. Each party has a different perspective and their own agenda when they tell what they think to be the truth. Basically almost everything we hear from any person is at most only the truth how they see it and the more people who witness an event the more real truth is exposed. This is how police solve crimes; first they gather evidence then they look for witnesses. They use the evidence and the stories told to try and paint the truth to solve crimes and convict criminals. What is sad about this is that sometimes they even get it wrong because of how they see truth. There is no one like God; He doesn’t speak in secret or hide in darkness, He speaks truth and declares what is right (Isaiah 45:19). The Spirit of God is truth; this is the same way He wants us to worship Him.
Those who do evil hate the light and will not walk in it for fear their deeds will be exposed. If we live by truth we come into the light so that we know whatever we do will be done in the sight of God (John 3:20-21). If we claim fellowship with God but continue in darkness we are liars and don’t live by the truth. When we are in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with each other and the blood of Jesus purifies us from sin. If we say we have no sin there’s no truth in us but if we confess our sins, He will forgive them and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:6-9). If we keep on sinning after knowing the truth there is no sacrifice left for our sins (Hebrews 10:26). After knowing Jesus is the truth how can we trample Him under feet. To the believing Jews, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free (John 8:31-32).” When Pilate asks if Jesus is king, He responds, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me (John 18:37).” The world cannot accept the Spirit of truth because it doesn’t know or see Him. Those of us who believe, we know Him because He is with us and in us (John 14:17). The Spirit of truth guides us in all truth; He only speaks what He hears and will tell us what is yet to come. He will glorify Christ because the Spirit receives from Him what is made known to us. Everything that belongs to the Father is also the Son’s; that is why He said the Spirit will receive from Me what He will make known to us (John 16:13-15). The Holy Spirit guides us in the truth according to Christ so we can walk in it. Therefore by speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ (Ephesians 4:15). The truth is the essence of everything Christ is; if we are in Him we will live our lives in truth as we are led by the Spirit to do so in our lives.
Tuesdays Torch has an official website http://www.tuesdaystorch.com Daily Sparks and Scripture Pictures are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several will be looking for future speaking engagements soon. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus their Savior send a message to: firstname.lastname@example.org and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!
No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
