The Temple was then dedicated with great joy by the priests, the Levites, and all the people. (Ezra 6:16)

Last week we learned about not looking back toward the path of destruction or we may miss the new thing God is doing for us. Looking back to the city of destruction is meaningless. Dylan Roof was looking back at his past, at the way he was raised in Charleston, SC at a prayer meeting on June seventeenth almost two weeks ago. When nine fellow believers were murdered I was just twenty miles from where it happened I was searching for a home in the area. On my way back to the house we are selling my mother and I were talking and praying about this tragedy and its potential impact on the nation. We thought the victims should be honored by having one Sunday a year where everyone brings a friend from another ethnic group unlike their own with them to church as a symbol that racism has no place in church. We saw a field on a side road so we turned around and pulled into that field almost as if that field was exactly where we needed to go and pray about it. I felt lead to read six sixteen from the fifteenth book in both the old and new testaments. At the time I was thinking that the shooting was six sixteen 2015 instead of the seventeenth that’s how I came to our scripture for today. It seemed neat to me that it was about dedicating the new temple with great joy by the priest and all the people. We now are the temple of God together we are called to unity until we reach the fullness of God through Christ. In due season he will be revealed by God Almighty He is immortal and so bright man cannot approach Him, no mortal man has seen or will ever see Him because of his magnificent power and dominion over us (1 Timothy 6:16). One day after the end of everything we know the Lord God and the Lamb will be the temple (Revelation 21:22). We can have great joy in this time of tragedy because the temple is being restored and it starts with each one of us. We are the temple because the Spirit of God dwells within us. Those who destroy His temple, God will destroy; His temple is sacred and those who believe are His temple (1 Corinthians 3:16-17).

The nine people who died the day after six sixteen at a prayer meeting on a Wednesday night seem to have been dedicated followers of Christ. They are His temple and the man who did this, his life is destroyed and he will not go unpunished for it. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit whom we received from God. We are not our own but were bought with a price. For this reason we should honor God with our bodies (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). What is the hope, joy or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of Christ? Is it not those who we’ve ministered to? What we’ve done in the lives for others for in Christ is our joy and glory in God (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20). We are precious and dearly loved by God; we are living stones that are building the dwelling place for His Spirit. These who were murdered because of their skin color were precious children of God and have joined the highest positions of honor in heaven. Because we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witness let us throw off the sins that entangle us. And let us run our race with perseverance, keeping our eyes on Jesus the perfector of our faith. For the joy set before Him Jesus endured the cross and all its shame to sit at Gods right hand. He endured all this at the hand of sinners who He was trying to save so we will not grow weary or lose heart (Hebrews 12:1-3). Because of these nine victims let’s not waste a moment of life destroying Gods temple but honoring it by not sinning against Him. These nine paid the price for their faith and like Christ they want their lives to be an example of how important it is for us to endure till the bitter end and to not lose heart. John in Revelation saw a vast crowd standing by the throne in heaven from all nations and languages; they are the ones coming from the great tribulation. Their robes were washed by Jesus blood that is why they are serving at the throne of God. He will shelter them from all harm, feed them and give them drink. Jesus their shepherd will feed them and lead them to streams of the water of God. He will wipe the tears from their eyes (Revelation 7:14-17). On six sixteen these people had lives similar to ours with families, jobs and dreams; the next day it all changed. They didn’t go through the great tribulation but they are honored as martyrs in heaven. Those nine victims are safe in the hands of Jesus.

Tuesdays Torch has an official website http://www.tuesdaystorch.com Daily Sparks and Scripture Pictures are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several will be looking for future speaking engagements soon. We pray the words of every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please share Tuesdays Torch and encourage others with it. Recently we partnered with leisurelane.wordpress.com please check it out and send them some love. Any ministries or blogs that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus their Savior send a message to: tuesdaystorch@gmail.com and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
