Let him lead me to the banquet hall, and let his banner over me be love. (Song of Songs 2:4)

Last week we learned about the true fountain of youth that is Jesus Christ. If we believe in Him and commit our lives to Him the fountain of life is inside of us to carry living water everywhere we go. When we think of Jesus we often associate Him with His coming to earth as a man but Jesus existed far before that. He has been since creation and long before that. Jesus makes appearances as far back as Genesis and communicates throughout Old Testament scripture with His people. Jesus is really what it’s all about; if we think of it the entire bible is the redemption story. Jesus is the chosen one and we all are the people He has wants to save from the hand of an evil enemy. He is leading us to the banquet hall where we will be forever united with Him. The banner we are under is His love, an unconditional love that we cannot comprehend. The closest we can come to understanding His love is when we feel the strongest will to love. Man gets to give and receive love like this for a few events in life. I believe that when a man has children is the number one time when we can begin to understand how God loves us. The other moment in life when we get to express our highest level of love is on our wedding day. As my wedding this weekend is rapidly approaching, I must admit the love for my future wife is growing more and more. I want to provide for all her needs and protect her from anything that’d cause her pain. I want her to place me as a seal over her heart; love is stronger than death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like a blazing fire and a mighty flame (Song of Songs 8:6). This is also how Jesus wants to love us; like the groom loves his bride it is the banner He has over us.

Now we will see Jesus in Genesis showing His love to the root of His people. The Lord appeared to Abram and said He was giving the land of someday Israel to him and his offspring. Abram built an altar there to the Lord who appeared to him (Genesis 12:7). How can Abram have seen God if no man can see God and live? The answer is simple he didn’t see God the Father, he seen and spoke to Jesus His Son. When Sarah’s handmaid Hagar was forced to leave with her son Ishmael she was crying near a well of water because of her situation. At the well the Lord appeared to her and Hagar named the Lord, “You are the God who sees me.” She said, “I have now seen the one who sees me (Genesis 16:13).” The one who seen her is the only one who could meet her face to face, the Jesus in Genesis. The Lord appeared to Isaac and told him not to go down to Egypt but to live in the land He would show to him (Genesis 26:2). Jesus was leading Isaac to the Promised Land. Late one night the Lord appeared to him again and said, “I am the God of Abraham. Do not be afraid, I am with you; I will bless you and increase your number of descendants for the sake of Abraham my servant (Genesis 26:24).” Jesus loved Abraham so much and He showed this by being faithful to bless the descendants Abraham. God promised Israel that He would be with them and watch over them wherever they went and bring them back to their land. He will not leave them until He does everything He promised them (Genesis 28:15). He is with whoever will get with Him and we will see Him do His promises for us to. The Jesus in Genesis is the same as the one who rebuilt the temple in three days, not with stone but in our hearts. He is the one who will appear in all His Glory (Psalm 102:16). Jesus is leading us to the banquet hall so forever we can be under His banner of love and He will seal us in His heart as we become His beautiful bride.

Recently we partnered with leisurelane.wordpress.com please check it out and send them some love. Any ministries or blogs that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus their Savior send a message to: tuesdaystorch@gmail.com and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
