Tuesday’s Torch

By: Tim Sader

For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. (Psalm 36:9)

Last week we talked about being in the shadow of God’s wings where we are safe and protected from all harm. Evil cannot hide there but if we believe in His son Jesus we can abide in the shadow. For centuries men have been telling stories about and searching for the fountain of youth. The most recent story about it I can think of about it is Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Ties. Captain Jack. Black Beard and their pirate friends search for the fountain of youth. They find out they need a mermaid tear to open up the secret passage to access the fountain. Four opposing groups in search of it get there at the same time and a battle breaks out. When the Spanish crusaders make there entrance, they swipe the special challises needed to drink from the fountain, stomp on them and say, “Only God can grant eternal life; not this pagan god.” The Spaniards end up destroying the fountain and all that’s left is one drink and the last of them fight over it. The crusaders make a good argument; only God can grant eternal life and we can only receive it when we believe that Jesus is our savior. The fountain of life is always with us; in His light we can see the light. Jesus is the fountain of life men are in search of; some men have found Him but some search their whole life and never find whatever it is they are searching for. When we accept Christ He comes and lives inside of our hearts. It’s Christ in us that is the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). Not only is the fountain Christ it is inside of us; no fountain we drink from will give us eternal life only the fountain we receive in the heart can do that. The fountain of life lives inside of us who believe in Christ and accept Him into our lives.

The fountain in us is a stream that others can draw from and it flows out of us. The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life but a wicked mouth conceals violence (Proverbs 10:11). The teaching of the wise is also a fountain of life it turns a person away from the snares of death (Proverbs 13:14). The fear of the Lord is another way the fountain of life turns us away from the snares of death (Proverbs 16:22). If we have the fountain of life in us our mouths will speak what is righteous, we will listen to wisdom and fear how great our God truly is. After the end Israel and the rest of the world will be restored to the beautiful place it was intended to be. The mountains will drip with new wine, the hills will flow with milk and in the valleys water will run. A fountain will flow from the house of God to the valley of Shittim (Joel 3:18). There are already ancient caves for an underground river to flow through this area so it won’t take much effort for this to happen. On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to cleanse them from all their sins (Zechariah 13:1). Jesus tells us that just as scripture says, whoever will believe in Him will have rivers of living water flowing from themselves (John 7:38). This river can only flow from us when Jesus the one and only fountain of life lives inside of us. There is no secret fountain hidden somewhere in a Caribbean cave that we have to unlock some strange mystery to find. The fountain of life is found in one source alone and His name is Jesus. When we believe in Him and stay truly tapped into Him as our source our hearts will be filled with Him and the fountain will come out of us like a river washing away whatever comes in contact with us. The fountain of life is not external but it flows from each one of us if we will let Christ into our lives.

Tuesdays Torch has an official website Daily Sparks and Scripture Pictures are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several will be looking for future speaking engagements soon. We pray the words of every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please share Tuesdays Torch and encourage others with it. Recently we partnered with please check it out and send them some love. Any ministries or blogs that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus their Savior send a message to: and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
