Tuesday’s Torch

By: Tim Sader

Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn; (Isaiah 51:1)

Last week we learned how we as believers can reach our full potential when we do what God is doing in our lives and never give up. Many of us have heard that God is our rock and a fortress we can run to for refuge. He is that and so much more. He is the rock from which we were cut and the quarry we were hewn from. We were created in His image and in His likeness so if we are hewn from Him we are a small piece of who He is. He made us living stones with some of His same attributes on a smaller scale. The works of God are perfect and His ways are just; He does no wrong, is upright and fair. God our Rock we proclaim and praise how great He really is (Deuteronomy 32:3-4). There is no one holy like our God; there is no one besides Him, no rock is like our God (1 Samuel 2:2). There is no rock like Him but there are other rocks, there are smaller stones those are us. We are being built up to be more like God. To have good works, be just, do what is upright, fair and not wrong. Believers pursue righteousness and seek the Lord; we must look to the rock we were hewn from. That is how we take on His qualities by studying Him and doing things His way. We are living stones created by God to fellowship with Him and love Him like children who love their Father and want to please Him. We could not build ourselves in Him without one of us to show us how to live the life of righteousness we are trying to achieve. He sent a bigger piece of himself to stabilize us and be our help so we can be built up into everything we are meant to be.

Jesus is the living Stone; rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to Him. We are also like living stones and are being built into a spiritual house to be holy priests, offering spiritual sacrifices to God through Christ. The scriptures say I lay a stone in Zion, a precious chosen cornerstone and whoever trusts in Him will never be put to shame. To those of us who believe in Him, He is a precious stone but those who do not believe have rejected Him despite the fact that He is their cornerstone. He is the stone that makes them stumble and fall because they disobey the message of God which is what we are all destined for (1 Peter 2:4-8). The stone they rejected is the chief cornerstone. Salvation is not found in no one else, there is no name under heaven given to mankind by which we are saved (Acts 4:11-12). By Jesus we are saved; He is the first born stone hewn from God, we are built into a spiritual house because our cornerstone holds the building up. We cannot think that we are saved because of who our father is or because we are good and go to church. God can rise up children of Abraham from stones if He chooses to do so (Matthew 3:9). When Jesus came into Jerusalem before His crucifixion the people welcomed Him as the Messiah. The Pharisees told Jesus to calm His followers and set the people strait. Instead he tells the Pharisees that if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out (Luke 19:40). We are living stones we can help build a spiritual house or be a lonely stone hoping to be useful for something. We are called to be living stones like Christ the living Stone who came to help build us up so we can handle ministering to the Lord. In Christ we can be more like the Rock we were hewn from. More of His traits are in us because Christ removed the blemishes in us that made us less like Him. If we will not reject Christ we are living stones without the blemishes that made us less like God so let us remain in Him and always do what’s right.

Tuesdays Torch has an official website Daily Sparks and Scripture Pictures are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several will be looking for future speaking engagements soon. We pray the words of every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please share Tuesdays Torch and encourage others with it. Recently we partnered with please check it out and send them some love. Any ministries or blogs that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus their Savior send a message to: and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
