Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. (Jude 1:21)
Last week we discussed God sends or His solution to circumstances in our lives. Some things feel like God sends but are not the solution and solutions sometimes don’t fell like God sends still some God sends are His solution. Jesus is the ultimate sent by God solution to everything. He loved us so much He took away our sins upon Himself. As I’ve been thinking about love with my own wedding fast appreciating I stumbled upon a quote that says the first lesson of love is aloneness. Jesus gave His life because He loved us; that is some great love He showed us. I wonder though does Jesus love us more than we love ourselves when we are alone. Jesus loves us how we are, He doesn’t force us to change or love him back but because He loves us we want to love Him. Often we don’t love ourselves though we think we are too fat, skinny, grey or bald. We’d love ourselves more if we could change this and that or if we looked like someone better looking than us. We in many ways are our own worst enemy because we are down on ourselves and beat our self-up. We say we love our wives, kids, moms, dads and God but we haven’t passed aloneness, love lesson number one. If we don’t love ourselves truly how can we love anyone else the way they need us to? We cannot love our neighbor like we love ourselves until we learn how to love ourselves in the right kind of way. How should we love ourselves? If we love ourselves first off that love will make us want to be the best we can be. We will have the motivation to change what we can and the confidence to be content in our own skin. We won’t beat ourselves up, hate our reflection, be depressed all the time or feel sorry for ourselves.
To love others we cannot seek revenge or bear a grudge against them so we can’t do this against us either or we aren’t loving ourselves (Leviticus 19:18). We do this when we make mistakes and get angry or feel stupid. The more we feel that way the more faults we find and soon we are plotting revenge on our self. If we love ourselves we won’t feel like we don’t belong because we are an outsider in a situation (Leviticus 19:34). We aren’t foreigners despite our differences; we must love others and ourselves fairly or we don’t love. We are instructed to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind; also to love our neighbor as ourselves (Luke 10:27). Loving God and our neighbor like we love ourselves fulfills all the law of God. If we love others, God or ourselves we will not sin against them or us. We won’t murder our self or anyone, worship other gods, commit adultery or hate ourselves. Love does not harm others so if we love ourselves we will not harm ourselves in anyway (Romans 13:8-10). We harm ourselves when we commit sins in excess that can bring harm to us. Being drunk often, smoking a pack a day, having sex with multiple partners, being violent, angry, depressed or jealous is harming to us. To love ourselves and others properly we put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. We forgive others and receive forgiveness from others because God forgave us. Over all we must put on love which binds us all together in perfect unity (Colossians 3:12-14). We cannot put on love without first loving ourselves. If we love ourselves and others we are doing right (James 2:8). We build up ourselves in the most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit and keeping ourselves in God’s love as we wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus to bring us eternal life (Jude 1:20-21). If we are in God’s love we will love ourselves!
Tuesdays Torch has an official website http://www.tuesdaystorch.com Daily Sparks and Scripture Pictures are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several will be looking for future speaking engagements soon. We pray the words of every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please share Tuesdays Torch and encourage others with it. Recently we partnered with leisurelane.wordpress.com please check it out and send them some love. Any ministries or blogs that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus their Savior send a message to: email@example.com and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!
