Tuesday’s Torch

By: Tim Sader

Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me.” (John 8:42)

Last week we talked about seeing sin, we learned how God looks past it because of His love for us and our love for others covers their sin to. Love is a God solution to us seeing only the sin in the lives of others and for many other things. How do we know if something is a God send or solution for us? Can a God send be a solution or vice versa? God did not suddenly just tell the flood waters to go away; He sent the wind to dry the waters so they would recede (Genesis 8:1). In this instance what God sent was a big part of the solution to the flood waters that covered the earth. One time God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem but when He saw the disaster He withdrew the angel He sent (1 Chronicles 21:15). When God sent this angel it not only wasn’t a well thought solution but He regretted that He sent the destroying angel. The Lord sent many prophets because He had pity on Israel but they despised, mocked and scoffed at them until the Lord was angry and had no remedy for them (2 Chronicles 36:15-16). The prophets told each of them to turn from their wicked ways and to stop serving other gods. Then they would live in the land given to their ancestors but they paid them no attention (Jeremiah 35:15). God sent the prophets to warn the people of the wrong they were doing but this was no ultimate solution because the law could never be kept or free us from sin. Many things in life are God sends that are no solution, some will help the solution come or a message sent will bring a solution if we do what’s right. Some things feel like God sends them to us because they make life on earth better and sometimes they are but these are not always His solution. If the heat in our house goes out a kerosene heater from a friend maybe a God send but the solution is a new heating system for our home. Medicine can stop the symptoms of diseases but often times they are not a solution for it.

The law was sent by God to Moses for Israel to follow when they were becoming a nation. It was sent but it was too much for anyone to follow so it was not the solution. The blood of bulls and goats was not able to take away sins. God did not desire sacrifice and offering, but our body prepared for Him; burnt offerings really never pleased Him. Jesus offered Himself as a body without sin written about in Isaiah; who came to do Gods will by being the body God was looking for to be the sacrifice (Hebrews 10:4-7). Through the sin of one man Adam death reined so how much more will we receive grace, abundant life and the gift of righteousness reign in life through Christ? One trespass condemned us all so it only makes sense that one act of righteousness would bring justification and life to us all. One disobedience made all of us sinners so in obedience we can be made righteous. The law was sent so trespass might increase, where it increased grace increased even more. So just as sin reigned in death grace reigns through righteousness to bring eternal in Christ Jesus (Romans 5:17-21). When the time came Jesus was born under the law to redeem those born under the law so we can be sons of God. Because we are sons we receive the Spirit of the Son who cries out to God as our Father (Galatians 4:4-6). This is how God showed His love to us: He sent his Son into the world so we could live through Him. This is love: not us loving Him but Him loving us enough to send His son as our sacrifice for our sins (1 John 4:9-10). If God is our Father we will love Him by accepting the Son whom God sent. Jesus was both a send and solution to pretty much every circumstance we face in life.

Tuesdays Torch has an official website Daily Sparks and Scripture Pictures are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several will be looking for future speaking engagements soon. We pray the words of every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please share Tuesdays Torch and encourage others with it. Recently we partnered with please check it out and send them some love. Any ministries or blogs that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus their Savior send a message to: and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
