Tuesday’s Torch

By: Tim Sader

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8)

Last week we learned a lot about little things and how we need to recognize them before we can understand the greater things of God. Sin seems like such a big thing when we are trying to live free from it and the further we separate ourselves from it the more obvious we see it in others. When this happens many believers become very legalistic, judgmental and self-righteous. We think everyone needs to work as hard as us and we point out their sins. Correcting a fellow believer is not necessarily wrong; it’s often the way we approach others that causes the problem. We need to refocus; instead of seeing sin that people are involved in we need to see them as someone God loves. Is this not what Jesus did when He submerged Himself in the midst of thieves, sluts and liars? He loved others and love covered the multitude of sins. It is true that the eyes of the Lord cannot look on sin and wrongdoing but still he allows the wicked to thrive over the righteous (Habakkuk 1:13). He allows this because of love hoping in time they will turn away from their evil ways. He is not seeing sin when He sees us; He is seeing His creation that He called good. His love covers our sin; He does not turn His back on us if sin is still in our lives but chooses not to see it when He sees us. At Calvary Christ paid the price for sin and through salvation we become righteous and our sins are removed instead of ignored. His eyes are on the righteous, He hears their cries; He doesn’t give heed to those who remain wicked, their names are wiped out from the earth (Psalm 34:15-16). On the cross Jesus cried out, “My God why have you forsaken me?” (Mark 15:34) God did not stop loving His son but had to turn His face from the sin He became guilty of until His innocence washed them away and He became a more permanent solution for sin.

As humans if we have the fear of the Lord that is wisdom and shunning evil is understanding (Job 28:28). He tells us to shun evil not to see sin, judge people and shun them. We must turn from evil and do good so we can dwell in the land forever (Psalm 37:27). If we love life and enjoy good days we must keep our mouths from speaking evil and deceit. We should seek peace and run after it because the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous. He hears our prayers when we are in right standing with Him but His hands are tied if we continue in sin and forsake Him (1 Peter 3:10-12). We all sin even after we are saved we sin from time to time. How can we go around seeing the sins of everyone else when we have sin in our own lives we are trying to be free from. We must first deal with our own sin before we can clearly instruct others in being free from theirs (Luke 6:42). We are hypocrites when we see sin but don’t love people in spite of their sin. It is the Holy Spirits job to convict men of sin; all we are commanded to do is love and it should cover their sin from our sight. When we pray to God whatever we have against anyone we must forgive them so that our Father in heaven will forgive our sins (Mark 11:29). When others sin it is no offence against us so we mustn’t be their judge for it. If we won’t forgive others of their sins, how can God forgive us of our sins when we ask (Matthew 6:15)? Seeing the sins of others and thinking they’re so horrible should only make us reflect on how far God has brought us and how far we have left to go. We are called to love because Christ first loved us and that love He showed us was enough to cover every sin. If we love like we should we will stop seeing sin and love others so they can become what they were created to be.

Tuesdays Torch has an official website Daily Sparks and Scripture Pictures are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several will be looking for future speaking engagements soon. We pray the words of every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please share Tuesdays Torch and encourage others with it. Recently we partnered with please check it out and send them some love. Any ministries or blogs that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus their Savior send a message to: and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
