‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’
Last week we talked about repentance and learned that it isn’t over at salvation but is an attitude we should have every day of our lives. We have been invited from God to enter into repentance and be saved so we can live with Him forever. Everyone who has heard of Christ or accepted Him already have been invited to have fellowship with Him. Just because we have been invited though doesn’t mean we will go to the actual event. All of us have been invited to something; a birthday party, graduation, wedding or reunion that we didn’t go to. Sometimes we even say that we will be there but when the day comes we get busy, don’t want to go or forget about it so we just don’t show up. When this happens usually we disappoint the host, miss out on a really fun time and regret that we missed out on it. Being invited to anything good or to celebrate an accomplishment is truly an honor. Out of everyone that person knows we were important enough to them for us to be invited to share it with them. If they didn’t want to have us around surely we wouldn’t be invited to anything they consider to be special. God is planning the biggest party in the universe and what’s really cool is that we are all invited to it. We are not invited either just because we were born or that’s what He’s obligated to do. He has invited us because He loves us all in a special way and wants us there with Him. It is an honor to be invited by Almighty God to do anything yet alone to be invited to live with Him forever. So how are we going to respond to the invite? Some have already answered yes but there is still room for us to.
The kingdom of heaven is like a king preparing a wedding banquet for his son. He sent out his servant to invite guests but they refused to come. When they wouldn’t come he sent out more servants to tell those invited about what they’d be missing if they didn’t come (Matthew 22:2-4). When they still didn’t come it made the king angry so he sent the army to deal with them. The guests invited didn’t deserve to come so when the banquet was ready he sent the servant into the street to invite anyone he could. The good and bad he gathered together and the wedding hall was filled. When the king went in to see the guests one man wasn’t wearing wedding clothes so the king asks how he got there. The man had no answer so the king called his attendants and had him tied up and thrown out in the darkness. Many were invited to the wedding but only the ones who were ready were chosen guests (Matthew 22:8-14). God is king, Jesus is the son, the banquet is the marriage supper of the lamb, the servants are faithful followers of God and all us who’ve heard about Jesus are the first invitees who didn’t come. Those who hadn’t heard responded better than those who had but if they weren’t ready they weren’t chosen. We must be ready and go when the time comes and then we will be chosen guests. The less favorable guests were invited when the other guests were too busy to come. They have been invited but there’s still room for us if we come when He calls (Luke 14:21-24). If we’ve been invited to the marriage of the lamb we are blessed; His words are true (Revelation 19:9). Jesus will only go where he’s been invited like when He dined at the Pharisee’s house (Luke 7:36). The servant of all Jesus is knocking at our door because He wants to dine with us (Revelation 3:20). We will accept His invite or ignore it and be left out when the party gets started and we can’t get in.

We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: email@example.com and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!
No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
