Tuesday’s Torch

1 Corinthians 15:57

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Last week we learned about what surprises God even though He knows everything. Our free will offers Him a certain level of surprise mostly by our strong faith or lack of faith in Him even after experiencing the miraculous. We should give thanks to God and trust Him with our lives because in Christ we have the victory over every circumstance. With the Thanksgiving holiday coming up in a few days I decided to look in the word to see what it says about being thankful. This year is the first year in a long time I’m truly in the spirit of the season. Last year I felt incredibly blessed but Thanksgiving still was not the same without my brother Joe to celebrate it with. He really enjoyed the holidays especially if it involved making and eating large amounts of food. He would do everything he could possibly do to have a successful great tasting meal on that day even if it meant going to the neighbors and helping them. Losing him in 2011 took a lot of my joy at the holidays. I was thankful for life, God and family but I had no desire to celebrate. This year and the second half of last year my whole world changed and I feel that the holidays will be better again. This year marked the beginning of a new relationship that has completely opened a whole new world to me. I get to enjoy new holiday traditions with the beautiful young lady I get to spend my days with and I get to become closer with her family as we merge our lives. These are exciting times in my life and I have so much to be thankful for. My future is bright because God is with me and He has richly blessed me in more ways than I can list in one Torch. May we all remember what God has done for us this year and be thankful for the victories we are now experiencing in our lives.

We should give thanks mostly to God because of His goodness; His love for us lasts forever (1 Chronicles 16:34). Christians should be most thankful because we have faith in God like we were taught. Since we have received Christ we should continue living our lives for Him. We should be thankful because we are rooted and strengthened in our faith (Colossians 2:6-7). In Christ our lives are enriched in every way with all kinds of speech and knowledge. This grace that God gave us in His son we should be thankful for because our new life in Him confirms our testimony (1 Corinthians 1:4-6). Believing in Christ means we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken; we should be thankful and worship God in reverence and awe (Hebrews 12:28). No matter what is happening in our lives, in all circumstances we should be thankful. It is the will of God for us to always be thankful because of everything Christ did for us (1 Thessalonians 5:18). We should thank God always for the brothers and sisters in our lives. We need to thank Him for all our loved ones because it grows our faith and increases our love for each other (2 Thessalonians 1:3). People and family is the biggest thing most of us are thankful for at Thanksgiving. I know this is true for me because missing someone made it difficult and adding a new person to my life is making it exciting again. Mostly to God we are thankful because He’s the one who is and was; by His great power He has begun to reign (Revelations 11:17). Our God reigns if we believe this we should be thankful at all times; He will give us the victory because He is good and His love goes on and on forever. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Tuesdays Torch has an official website The Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several speaking engagements lined up for the future. We pray the words of every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please share Tuesdays Torch and encourage others with it. Recently we partnered with please check it out and send them some love. Any ministries or blogs that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
