1 John 5:19
We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.
Last week we finished acceptance and answered the last question; how do we accept God and how does he accept us. We are accepted by Him and accept God by doing what is pleasing to Him. It is hard in this world to always be pleasing to God because it is under the control of the evil one. He doesn’t want us to please God so he challenges us in whatever ways he can. We know we are Gods children so we want to do the right thing but we must be careful with how much we let the world influence us. The world eats Christians for breakfast; it chews us up and leaving us in a broken mess for God to fix again. It is sad that so many of us back slide when we could be growing and maturing in our faith. When we back slide and repent we don’t come back to the where we would be if we hadn’t. We go to where we were when we fell away if not further back. This is such a waste of time; think of how much far we would be if we stayed on the right path. We cannot let the world turn us into Captain Crunch if we are really dedicated to the Lord. None of us are so good or so righteous that we cannot be tempted and ate up by the world our flesh wants us to be part of. Even some of the greatest men have fallen from the highest positions of honor in the church so none of us are above this. I was caught up in the world myself for many years in my late teens and twenties. Sure I never stopped believing in God or looking to grow in my faith but I had one foot in the world and was following after my lusts. Living in sin one or two nights a week is uncool for us if we truly are trying to grow closer to God.
The devil is like a hunting lion he is seeking someone to devour and he’s not looking to devour those who already serve him. Lions don’t eat lions they eat other animals who are trying to avoid becoming breakfast. In this case the world is on team lion and we are sheep in a meadow they are seeking to feed on. We do not have to be devoured we can resist it by standing firm in our faith and knowing that the flock throughout the world is sharing in the sufferings to (1 Peter 5:8-9). By staying close to the good shepherd and the flock of believers we greatly increase our chances of not becoming the first meal of the day. We have the Holy Spirit to guide us but the world can’t accept Him because they don’t see Him. We know Him though because He’s inside of us and leads us on the path of truth (John 14:70). By tuning our ear to Him, keeping Him in or sight and heart we will find life and health for our bodies. We must guard our hearts because from it comes everything we do. To do this we watch how we talk, keep our eyes strait on Jesus, watch where our feet go and remain steadfast in our ways. This will keep us from evil if we do not stray (Proverbs 4:20-27). We do not fight against flesh and blood, but against rulers, authorities, powers of darkness and spiritual forces of evil. To guard against this we put on the full armor of God so we can stand against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:11-12). The evil world eats men’s souls for breakfast and what good is it to gain the world if we lose our souls? What can we give in exchange for our soul (Matthew 16:26)? There’s nothing worth losing our soul to it is best if we give it to God and keep it there. Don’t become breakfast stand firm in the faith, walk a strait path and wear the armor God has given us to resist the enemy.

We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: firstname.lastname@example.org and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!
No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
