Tuesdays Torch week 304

Tuesday’s Torch

By: Tim Sader

James 1:21

Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

In the acceptance series last week we answered the second question; who do we accept and how do we accept them? We learned to love everyone but to be closest with believers. When we accept who God sends us we accept Christ and if we accept Him God accepts us. That brings us to our final question on acceptance. How do we accept God and how does He accept us? We accept others because of love but the first part of the command to is to love God whole heartedly (Matthew 22:37). We accept God in the same way we accept anyone by loving Him. How do we love God? We love Him by doing His commands, not seeing them as a burden and overcoming the world by faith (1 John 5:3-5). If we believe in the Son of God we accept His testimony; if we don’t believe we say He is a liar. The testimony we accept or not is that God gives us eternal life in His Son. Whoever accepts the Son lives but those who don’t really have no life at all (1 John 5:10-12). When we received the word of God after we heard it we must accept it not as man’s words but as the true word of God that is now at work in all who believe (1 Thessalonians 2:13). We must get rid of moral filth and the evil that is so rampant in this world. Then we humbly accept the planted word inside of us that can save us. In view of Gods mercy we are urged to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, being holy we are accepted by God into His service. To do this we must not be conformed to the pattern of the world but renew our minds so we can do what is good, perfect and acceptable to God (Romans 12:1-2). The kingdom of God is not about minor differences between us, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. If we do this we serve Christ, are pleasing to God and approved by man (Romans 14:17-18).

We are accepted by God when we are pleasing to Him. We do this by loving Him, believing in the Son, accepting His word as truth, getting rid of moral filth and renewing our minds in the Holy Spirit. What we accept or don’t accept in our lives always comes back to our decision. If we accept sin into our lives we are responsible for the consequence; but if we accept the word of God and put it to work in our lives we make Christ our standard and that pleases the Lord. We also are told to love and accept others when God puts them across our path. If they are still sinners we must remember God sets our standard of living so that we will not be influenced to sin also. We must remember our main reason for associating with sinners is to show them Gods love so they want to be saved. If they see no benefit or difference in us they have no reason to become like us. We associate with other believers for closer friendships, fellowship and building one another up in the faith. In our circle of influence depending on who it is we need to be the standard of what is acceptable. We do this by saying no when the crowd says yes to sin or wickedness and influence them through the Spirit and righteousness instead. This is usually unpopular and can be a lonely road but it will be the right one. We accept what is not sin, other people and the Lord. To do this we walk in love, practice righteous living, trust God to be our salvation and everything we need. Acceptance is a big deal it steers the direction of our lives, the lives of others, sends us to hell or heaven and makes us who we are.

Tuesdays Torch has an official website The Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several speaking engagements lined up for the future. We pray the words of every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please share Tuesdays Torch and encourage others with it. Recently we partnered with please check it out and send them some love. Any ministries or blogs that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
