Tuesdays Torch week 302

Tuesday’s Torch

By: Tim Sader

Proverbs 19:20

Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise.

In life we groan when we are oppressed, feeble, distressed, under tyranny and evil rule. Here we groan because we are limited by the flesh so we long to put on the eternal which is perfected by God. In the past few months I’ve been putting a lot of thought into what we accept as Christians so I’d like to spend a few weeks on this. What do we accept and what don’t we accept? That is the main question for us to think about today. In the next two weeks we will discuss accepting God, Him accepting us and us accepting others. For now we are not talking about other people but rather what we accept in our own lives as believers in Christ. What we accept in life most often comes down to how much we allow the world or righteous to influence us. Something’s we accept we learn as children, are pressured into, are influenced by culture or forced to do. Ultimately though what we accept into our lives is because we chose to accept it and are living with it by choice. Just because daddy drank, a friend wants you to or an advertisement makes it look fun doesn’t change the fact that we accepted the offer or temptation to do it. If we accept the offer to get drunk and we get into a fight, have an affair, drive drunk and kill someone our daddy or friend doesn’t go to jail. We do because we willing did it and accepted that as okay behavior. Acceptance goes like this to we say no to our past, no to our friends and no to the lies of culture. We say yes Lord I will do what is right no matter how unpopular it is and I will accept the path of righteousness. What do we accept and what don’t we accept?

Jesus gave us many examples of how to accept things and how we don’t accept things. Jesus didn’t accept storms, evil spirits to speak, sickness, money changers in the temple, a fig tree without figs. He did accept invites to dinner, tax collectors, whores to wash His feet, adulterers, fisherman, hotheads, backstabbers and His mission to free us from our sin. Jesus accepted some unexpected things but He only did what he saw the father doing. This is the key to how, when, why and what we accept is by the will of God for us. If we are sinning personally or doing wrong to others that is unacceptable. The bible gives us guidelines to follow in our lives for what to accept or not. If we accept bribes to pervert justice we are wicked (Proverbs 17:23). Some people accept bribes to shed blood; they make a profit by taking advantage of the poor. They extort unjust gain onto their neighbors and in doing have forgotten the Lord (Ezekiel 22:12). We must get rid of everything that is immoral and the evil that is prevalent in us and accept the word planted in us, which can save us (James 1:21). We must learn to listen to the Lord’s advice and on what to accept so that in the end we can be considered wise. If we accept the word it’s seed planted in good soil and it will produce fruit in us many times greater than the seed in us (Mark 4:20). True religion that God accepts as faultless and pure is to look after widows and orphans in distress and keep ourselves from being polluted by the world (James 1:27). If we accept what is in God’s word for us to do we don’t accept the things of this world and what man says if okay. It’s up to us what we accept in our lives and what is unacceptable to us; never is what we do someone else’s fault. We set the standard of what we accept and what we don’t so what will we choose today?

Tuesdays Torch has expanded its reach by building our official website With the Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures we are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several speaking engagements lined up for the near future. We pray the words of every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward Tuesdays Torch and encourage others with it. Recently we partnered with please check it out and send them some love. Any ministries or blogs that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email, on Facebook as Tuesdays Torch or Twitter @tuesdaystorch Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
