Tuesdays Torch week 301

Tuesday’s Torch

By: Tim Sader

Proverbs 5:11

At the end of your life you will groan, when your flesh and body are spent.

God will rise with us when we have the courage to rise up and do what has been put in our hands to do. In life we all can think of a time that caused us sorrow and all we could do was groan. To groan means to make a deep sound because of pain or some strong emotion (such as grief or disappointment). These moments happen all the time; we miss the winning point, get fired from a job, are stuck in traffic or hear bad news. Sometimes we groan when we have been mistreated or are being oppressed by some authority that challenges our faith. God hears us when we groan He knows what’s troubling us even before we can put it into words. If He knows why we groan then He also knows how to fix it. When we groan we are saying something to God that only He can understand. I have had times in my life where all I could do to talk to God was through my groans. When I was 16 most of my peers were getting their driver’s license but I was preparing to have a back surgery to stop the progression of scoliosis. I had a fifty degree curve in my back and had it continued to progress it would begin to be a threat to my breathing. On surgery day I had to wake up at four-thirty in the morning so we could be there early to get prepped for surgery at seven. I’m sure there were groans because I was tired, nervous, and unsure about recovery and results of the surgery. After surgery I was groaning because of the nausea and intense pain I felt in my body. God seen my groaning and I’m sure He was helping me through it because seven or eight hours later I was sitting up in a chair watching my favorite show.

When the poor are plundered and the needy groan God will arise and protect them from those who wrongfully mistreat them (Psalm 12:5). When we feel feeble we groan out of the sorrow in our hearts. Our longing is open to the Lord; when we sigh it is not hidden from us (Psalm 38:8-9). In our distress we often groan aloud; our stress can reduce us to skin and bones because it can make us sick or unable to eat. This often happens when someone we are deeply connected with passes away unexpectedly (Psalm 102:5). When our lives come to an end there will be things we wish we did or things we still want to do and can’t because our body has been spent. We will groan because of these things but if we live for the Lord there will be less regrets when that day comes. When the righteous are in charge people rejoice but when the wicked rule the people groan because of tyranny and evil choices (Proverbs 29:2). All of creation has been groaning with pains like a woman in labor for God to restore things to their original order. We who have the Spirit inside of us are groaning as we wait for our adoption into sonship and the redemption of our bodies (Romans 8:22-23). We know that our bodies here are being destroyed and that there is an eternal body in heaven that was not created by a man and woman. While we are here we groan, wishing to be clothed with our eternal dwelling because when we are clothed we won’t have to be exposed. In our current dwelling we groan because of our burdens but we do not want to lose our body unless we can replace it with the heavenly so that what is mortal is replaced with life forever. God designed us this way and the Spirit is our guarantee of what is to come (2 Corinthians 5:1-5). We groan for any number of reasons but if we are trusting God we know that He is perfecting us until we can put on what is already perfect.

Tuesdays Torch has expanded its reach by building our official website With the Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures we are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several speaking engagements lined up for the near future. We pray the words of every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward Tuesdays Torch and encourage others with it. Any churches or ministries that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch. Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
