Tuesdays Torch week 300

Tuesday’s Torch

09/30/14

Ezra 10:4

Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.

In last week’s Torch we learned that if we choose God He is with us, will strengthen and save us from harm. There are matters God has put into our hands to do; He has given us dreams and a vision for the future. The Lord wants us to rise up and have the courage needed to do it. God and the ones He puts in our path they will support us but we must rise and take hold of our own destiny. Throughout my life I have had ideas and always set out to do something to keep me busy and give me a future. I have been co-designer, web designer, business owner, non-profit founder and almost was on city council. I have written more propositions, designed business cards, printed fliers, done fundraisers and had more community meetings than anyone I know. Some of my ideas are sparked from a personal need, social issue, to make money or improve something. The best ideas I’ve had are God ideas of course and those are the ones that have most obviously worked out. One of the first attempts I made to establish myself as something was just after I finished high school. My friend Roger and two other friends started a band, I was their manager our first show was 30 youth at church and our biggest was 5,000 at a cancer walk. A few years later after vocational training I started a web design and hosting business that was ten years before it’s time when financing ran out. About seven years ago I started a nonprofit to support youth in the community I kept it going for 18 months then it just ran outta steam. Tuesdays Torch itself is the most successful God idea so far and today we are celebrating 300 Torches and at least one main scripture from every book of the bible. My ideas didn’t work out as well as God’s but no matter the goal I had to rise up and do something to make it happen.

Often times when we face a matter in our lives we talk to God and ask Him to rise up with us. We want him to do His part but sometimes we want Him to do our part to so we don’t have to. He will rise up and defend us when we need Him to contend for us (Psalm 35:23). God will rise up and help us He will rescue us because He loves us with an unfailing love (Psalm 44:26). God will pay back the proud what they deserve He will rise up and judge us all for the deeds we have done (Psalm 94:2). The Lord wants to be gracious to us this is why He shows us compassion. He is a God of justice all who wait on Him are blessed (Isaiah 30:18). Enemies should not gloat over us because when the righteous fall we get back up again. When we are in deep darkness the Lord is there and He will be our light (Micah 7:8). The righteous may fall seven times but we will rise up again. However the wicked stumble when trouble comes (Proverbs 24:16). Those of us who still sleep, who don’t know the Lord, need to wake up and rise from the dead to let the light of Christ shine. This is why we must be wise, making the most of every situation in these evil days. Therefore we cannot be foolish about what the Lords will is (Ephesians 5:14-17). His will is that we revere His name and rise up letting the sun of righteousness shine with healing in His rays. We will frolic like well-fed calves in a happy meadow. The wicked will be trampled down like ashes under our feet on the day when God takes action (Malachi 4:2-3). When a matter is in our hands we must rise up and do something about it. If we are wise we will rise up in the Lord; He will rise up with us and will do what is fair on our behalf when we take the courage to do it.

Tuesdays Torch has expanded its reach by building our official website http://www.tuesdaystorch.com With the Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures we are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several speaking engagements lined up for the near future. We pray the words of every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward Tuesdays Torch and encourage others with it. Any churches or ministries that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: tuesdaystorch@gmail.com and we will pray together. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch. Thanks and God Bless!

Tuesdays Torch week 299

Tuesday’s Torch

Haggai 1:13

Then Haggai, the LORD’s messenger, gave this message of the LORD to the people: “I am with you,” declares the LORD.

Last week we talked about things that are more valuable than rubies; wisdom, a godly spouse and relationship with God are the main ones we discussed. Looking back on my own life while preparing for this week’s message I really got to thinking about the times God has been there for me. Until I was fourteen I lived in Minnesota and other than ten thousand lakes it is most known for its often harsh winters. We lived in an apartment building next to a church with a big parking lot and every winter when it got plowed it would make a giant mound of snow. These snowbanks and church field attracted all the kids in the surrounding area for winter fun. These activities included sledding, snowball fights, snowmen, snow angels and digging snow tunnels. When I was about six I remember playing outside for hours with the other kids and having a blast. This year I was still getting around ok but after playing I’d be wore out and it was tough making it home through a couple feet of snow. One day my three year old brother was walking home with me and as we were heading home I took a step and sank up to my waist in snow. I couldn’t free myself and the tables were turned on me because now I had to trust my three year old brother to go home and get help. He did well and help came after I sank to my chest in the snow and was close to frost bite. Surely God was with me in that outcome because cold like that can kill fast and three year olds don’t always listen. If we choose God then God is with us. I was a child and I already had prayed for Jesus to live in my heart so He truly was with me and has been ever since.

Haggai gave the message of the Lord to His people. He declares to them “I (God) am with you.” We who believe and trust God are His people and God is with us just like He was with them in Israel. God spoke in a dream at Bethel and told Jacob He was with him and would bring his descendants back to that land. God said He would not leave them until He fulfilled all that was promised (Genesis 28:15). God has promised things to us all and He is with us until those promises have come into our lives. We should not fear or be dismayed because He is the God who strengthens and helps us when we seek Him. He upholds us with Jesus who is His mighty right hand (Isaiah 41:10). There’s no need to fear because God will rescue us when we most need Him to (Jeremiah 1:8). God makes his people a strong wall or fortified city. When outside forces attack us they will not overcome or win the fight. God always comes to the rescue and saves His people when trouble comes (Jeremiah 15:20). God tells Israel not to fear the king of Babylon because He was going to save them and deliver them from his hands (Jeremiah 42:11). Babylon was modern day Iraq and it just so happens one of our fears today ISIS comes out of that area. God is telling us to not fear what is coming from Babylon because God is with us and He will keep us safe from harm. If we have found Jesus our message to others is for them to come to Him and receive the Holy Spirit to be the comforter. We are to obey what the Lord commanded and surely He is with us until the end (Matthew 28:19-20). If we are saved then we are God’s people and He will be with us to strengthen, rescue, and save us from our fears. He sent His son to uphold us and be with us until we receive what he promised, even to the end of time.

Tuesday’s Torch week 298

Tuesday’s Torch

Isaiah 54:12

I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones.

Last week learned about deception and how easy it is to be so obviously blinded by it; just like when Delilah tricked Samson into telling how to make him weak. On Sunday my mom and I didn’t get up soon enough to go to our church because we overslept. Thankfully our church shows the services live online so we didn’t completely miss it. They spoke about the prophetic ministry gift and the proper way to share a word to someone to build them up. At the end of the service they had a time of activation for people to see if they could get a word for the person beside them. He said for those of us at home to give a word to the other person in the room with us. If we were watching alone we were to get a word for the first person we think of and write it down to give them later. I was watching it with my mom so after we prayed we tried getting a word for each other. For her I heard the old camp song Kumbayah which means come by me. It is sung to the Lord telling him to come by me when I’m laughing, crying, singing or praying. I felt this was the cry of her heart at this current time in her life and it made her tear up so it was a God thing. All she got when she closed her eyes she seen rubies set in some kind of wall and they had beams of light reflecting off of them. She didn’t know what it was saying to me so we googled rubies and searched bible gateway for scriptures about rubies. Mainly rubies are compared with other non-material things that are far more valuable than jewels, silver or gold. The rubies in the wall to me represent the things in my life with great value that I am building my life around.

One of the hardest substances on earth is a diamond it is a ten on the density scale. A ruby is a nine so it’s quite durable and would be a good building material if it was more abundant. If we seek the Lord He will build our lives with rubies and precious jewels that will not easily be broken. Coral and jasper is not worthless because wisdom is far greater than rubies (Job 28:18). The instructions of God we should choose above silver, knowledge is better than gold and wisdom is more precious than rubies. Nothing in this world we can find that can compare with godly wisdom (Proverbs 8:10-11). In this world money is important, sure we can have gold and rubies in abundance but when we speak knowledge it is a rare jewel (Proverbs 20:15). People pay tens of thousands of dollars to go to college and learn a career. They don’t do this to go into debt they do this because they know the great value in the wisdom. A four year college graduate can earn one to two million more in their career than a regular high school graduate. That education helps them lead the kind of life they want to live; it pays for its self fifty times or more in their life. Another rare thing to find in this world is a spouse with noble character. To find a good wife is worth far more than rubies and precious stones (Proverbs 31:10). A wife gives a man the things money can’t buy. Love is priceless and having children to love is what God told us to do and it can’t happen without two parents, married preferably. The most valuable treasure we can have is a relationship with God and He will make our life more precious than rubies. His people will sparkle in the land we will be like precious jewels in a crown (Zechariah 9:16).
