Tuesdays Torch week 295

Tuesday’s Torch

By: Tim Sader

Ruth 2:10

At this, she bowed down with her face to the ground. She asked him, “Why have I found such favor in your eyes that you notice me—a foreigner?”

Last week we learned God wants to remove shackles of life from those who trust Him and are willing to pray and praise even in our greatest trials. Lately I have been hearing a lot about joy and how believers should be full of the most joy because we have the best ending. The joy of the Lord is our strength we all have heard if we’ve been in church or in the word often (Nehemiah 8:10). Another recent joy message I have heard a lot about is the joy set before Him. What is the Joy of the Lord? What is the deal about the Joy set before Him? How can His joy be our strength? This are all great questions and we will get to the simple answer soon. Many of us have heard at least half a dozen or so messages on the book of Ruth. We know that after some sort of famine and the loss of her husband she went with her Mother-in-law to her home town Bethlehem. Because they were two widows the local family farms would let those less fortunate pick what was left after harvesting. Boaz owned land and he was in the line of Ruth’s husbands kinsmen and if it got around to his turn he could redeem his kinsman’s wife so his line would not be wiped out. One day Boaz took great pleasure in seeing Ruth gleaning from his field so he told his workers to leave her extra. Ruth came and bowed before him asking why did you show me this kindness? How is it you noticed me a foreigner? Boaz later redeems Ruth and makes her his wife and her line will include David, Salomon, and Jesus. Ruth was the joy set before Boaz on the threshing floor much the bride of Christ will be the joy set before Him when that day is upon us.

After God created the world and man God had joy; He was satisfied with what was created and He called it good (Genesis 1:31). Each new created thing was good to Him but the addition of us was needed for completion. David asks who is mankind that God would be mindful of us? Why does He care about us (Psalm 8:4)? God placed man in the Garden to take care of it. He told Adam not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or he would die (Genesis 2:16-17). God did this because he didn’t want slaves He wanted us to be His friend and respect Him enough to willfully choose Him. After man and woman ate of the tree God came looking for them in the garden and couldn’t find them (Genesis 3:8). They hid because they suddenly realized they were naked and ashamed of doing what they did. They did not fear the wrath of God they were afraid of hurting their best friend. They were ashamed of taking away the joy of the Lord. God’s hands were tied but He had a back-up plan He was working on. Jesus was to be the way to restore the relationship we had with God. He says not to rejoice because the spirits submit to us but that our names are written in heaven. It filled Him with joy knowing this was hidden from the wise and that it pleased God what He would do on the cross (Luke 10:20-21). We are the joy of the Lord. We are the joy set before Him that is why His joy is our strength. It is our strength to run with perseverance through this life toward Jesus who takes away our sins. That was the joy He suffered on the cross for (Hebrews 12:1-3). We are His joy and for us to lay our sins at the cross to restore the relationship Adam had with God brings Him the most joy.

Recently Tuesdays Torch has expanded its reach by building our official website . With the addition of the Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures we are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several other speaking engagements lined up for the near future. We pray the words of this Torch and every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward Tuesdays Torch to encourage others with its message. If there are any churches or ministries that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: and we will help it happen. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch. Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
