A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
In last week’s message we learned that the only way to have no flaws is by turning our lives Christ and following after Him. He is sometimes referred to as the root of Jesse because He came down through the line of David and is seated on his throne forever. Jesus also is the root of true righteousness if He is our root we are made righteous like He already is. This made me think of grape vines. At some of the world’s best vineyards they have a family root and every new vine that is planted comes from that root. That is why specific grapes and wines have a consistent taste associated with certain regions and or producers. The DNA of all the grapevines in a vineyard are the same so if our root is righteous we are righteous to. And the righteous will not be moved from their righteousness if it is true. Tuesdays Torch itself is the example of how I am trying to do this in my life. When I started writing six years ago I had no idea that I’d be writing even after the first year and I haven’t missed one since. Once or twice only I reposted an updated version of a previous message. I have written from a hospital bed, in sickness, grief and with a broken heart. I’ve been depressed, uninspired, angry, and sad, didn’t know what to write or didn’t really want to sometimes. When I started writing I could type almost 40 words per minute. As my hands grew weaker I started writing every Torch using my mouse and clicking every letter using an on-screen keyboard. It’s been trying but that righteous root inside me always rises to the occasion and helps me do what I do every Tuesday. I am not giving these examples out of arrogance or self-pity they are to show that the righteous don’t move no matter what.
David gives us a clue to how we can do this; he says “I saw the Lord always before me.” When the Lord is at our right hand helping us we will not be moved away from righteousness (Acts 2:25). We are not established by our wickedness it will get us nowhere in the long run. If we are all born into wickedness how then can we come to God? How can we live on His holy mountain? If we don’t move we will always do what is righteous; we will be blameless and always speak the truth from our heart. We will not slander people; do what is wrong to our neighbors or cast insults and accusations toward others. We will despise the evil man and honor those who serve the Lord; we keep our word even when it hurts without wavering. When we lend money to the poor we will not charge them interest or accept bribes that take advantage of the innocent. If we do these things we will never be moved or shaken from what is right (Psalm 15). Most of all we need to always keep the Lord in our sight and let Him go with us and be not moved from righteousness. We must understand that Jesus is our righteous root. If we remain in Him and He inside of us how can we move from that place? Don’t move from following Jesus and doing what He always did. Don’t move from seeing and speaking good things about others. Don’t move from righteousness into wickedness that ends in destruction. Don’t move away from speaking the truth in love from inside our hearts. Don’t move from being kind to the poor and the innocent; always keeping our promises to others. The righteous don’t move away from righteousness no matter what because Jesus is our root.
Recently Tuesdays Torch has expanded its reach by building our official website http://www.tuesdaystorch.com . With the addition of the Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures we are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several other speaking engagements lined up for the near future. We pray the words of this Torch and every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward Tuesdays Torch to encourage others with its message. If there are any churches or ministries that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: firstname.lastname@example.org and we will help it happen. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch. Thanks and God Bless!
No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
