Song of Songs 4:7
You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.
Last week we learned about honoring God with our obedience, salvation, bodies, trust, wealth and by doing good. The more we honor Him the less obvious we make our flaws. This will not remove flaws from our lives completely but it helps us get to a place where we have done everything we can. We need to strive for a place where we can trust God to be our everything as we obey Him. In that place we need not worry because we trusted God to do the rest. That place is the place where we are reminded we were set free from those flaws. In my own life many times I realized He was my way out of my flaws. The bad thing is these examples are both about sexual sin. After Graduation I was asking God for a girlfriend and if I got one I’d do what is right with her. At camp I thought a girl was sent from heaven and out of all the guys there she liked me. I brought her roses after camp ended and went out on a date with her. After summer she went to college and we started a long distance relationship. At winter break we set a date and I was going to be extra romantic not with the purest of intentions; besides that’s ok in college. Nothing happed because she never showed up I never heard from her again. Years later I gave into temptation and God clearly told both of us to stop and let Him in. We did long enough to read 21 days in a devotional then thought it’d be ok. Our relationship went from perfect to nothing in three weeks so I learned a valuable lesson. I refocused my pain and got back to God quick and stayed there through many difficulties that followed. Now He has blessed me a third time with love and we intend to keep God first and remain pure until we say our “I do’s.”
God is looking for a church that will have no flaw; He is waiting for us to be a beautiful bride He can join Himself to. We are all part of Christ’s body if we believe but are we functioning without flaws? Only the ways of God are perfect; His word is flawless and He shields us when we make Him our refuge (Psalm 18:30). Christ loved the church, His bride so much that He gave His life for us. He makes us holy and cleanses us by the washing with the perfect word of God. Then He can present us to Himself as a glorious church without spot or wrinkle, with no flaws. Husbands love their wives like they love their own bodies. We do not hate our own bodies; we feed them and care for them just like Christ cares for the church. He makes us flawless members of His body (Ephesians 5:25-30). Even when we sleep we must learn to listen because our beloved is knocking at the door. He wants His flawless bride to open up the door to Him and let Him in out of the cold dark night (Song of Songs 5:2). He wants to come inside to where he is warmly welcomed even in the darkest of nights. Because He loves us Christ may have to rebuke and discipline us so we will repeat and remain with no flaws. Christ is standing at the door of our heart waiting to come in have fellowship with us (Revelation 3:19-20). At the wedding of the Lamb and His bride when she is made ready we will rejoice and be glad giving Him the glory He deserves. Only He can make us ready and wash us with the word because that is who He is. His righteousness covers the bride in fine linen to wear. We will have no flaw when we are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:7-9). There are things we can do to have fewer flaws but to have no flaws we must turn to Christ and let Him cleanse us with the word of God.
Recently Tuesdays Torch has expanded its reach by building our official website http://www.tuesdaystorch.com . With the addition of the Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures we are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several other speaking engagements lined up for the near future. We pray the words of this Torch and every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward Tuesdays Torch to encourage others with its message. If there are any churches or ministries that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: firstname.lastname@example.org and we will help it happen. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch. Thanks and God Bless!
No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
