Tuesdays Torch week 291

Tuesday’s Torch

07/29/14

By: Tim Sader

Zechariah 14:9

The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and his name the only name.

Last week we learned that Jesus is our root of righteousness; if we don’t move away from Him we will stay strong in our faith. A few months ago I wrote a Torch about following the will of God for our lives. We do this when we walk in faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness and showing love to others. Not too long ago I read something to do with the will of God. Suddenly this question came to mind; what is a will? The kind of will I’m talking about is a legal declaration of a person’s wishes regarding the disposal of his or her property after death; especially: a written instrument legally executed by which a person makes disposition of his or her estate to take effect after death (www.merriam-webster.com). God has a legal declaration of His wishes for everything regarding our lives written in His word. He has a written instrument legally bonding us to Him and Him to us in that word. God is not dead now but His son died so we could inherent our part of heaven just by believing it is true. Before Christ countless animals died continually so we could have some of that promise. Striving to follow the rules did not work well because death had not happened to the one writing the will. God has a will and if Christ has become our savior we’re in it. Our name has been written in the Lambs book of life if He is truly Lord of our lives. Everything good that God promised to His people legally belongs to us. We are sons and daughters so we are in our daddy’s will. We have access to everything and every promise He made to man was made to us.

One day the Lord will be King over all the earth; His name the only name that matters. Because we’re in His will we will rule and reign with Him forever. We can know that we are doing according to His will because the Spirit intercedes for us based on what His will says. God works all things for the good to those who love Him and have been written into His will when they became children of God. We were predestined to be confirmed in the image of the Son. If we’re in His will we been predestined, called, justified and also glorified to be more like Him (Romans 8:26-30). The will of God has some obligations for us. We must give ourselves first of all to Him by doing what’s right and in love giving ourselves to others (2 Corinthians 8:5). We need to perceiver in doing the will of God so we will receive what He promised in His written will to us (Hebrews 10:36). Christ had to suffer in His body and die so Gods will could be made active in the lives of all who would believe. We will sometimes suffer in the body if we truly are done with sin because we may have to deny its lusts. If we’re in His will we will no longer live for human desire but to do what God requested in His will (1 Peter 4:2). God does not request us to see to our own lusts and pride, which doesn’t come from Him. The world and all its desires will pass away but if we do what is in His will have eternal life (1 John 2:16-17). Christ first had to die so the will of God could be effective. When He died the sin in us died also legal giving us access to all the promises in His word concerning His children. God wrote a will and His son died so we could be in it and if believe we’re in it to win it forever.

Recently Tuesdays Torch has expanded its reach by building our official website http://www.tuesdaystorch.com . With the addition of the Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures we are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several other speaking engagements lined up for the near future. We pray the words of this Torch and every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward Tuesdays Torch to encourage others with its message. If there are any churches or ministries that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: tuesdaystorch@gmail.com and we will help it happen. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch. Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16

Tuesdays Torch week 290

Tuesday’s Torch

07/22/14

By: Tim Sader

Proverbs 12:3

A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

In last week’s message we learned that the only way to have no flaws is by turning our lives Christ and following after Him. He is sometimes referred to as the root of Jesse because He came down through the line of David and is seated on his throne forever. Jesus also is the root of true righteousness if He is our root we are made righteous like He already is. This made me think of grape vines. At some of the world’s best vineyards they have a family root and every new vine that is planted comes from that root. That is why specific grapes and wines have a consistent taste associated with certain regions and or producers. The DNA of all the grapevines in a vineyard are the same so if our root is righteous we are righteous to. And the righteous will not be moved from their righteousness if it is true. Tuesdays Torch itself is the example of how I am trying to do this in my life. When I started writing six years ago I had no idea that I’d be writing even after the first year and I haven’t missed one since. Once or twice only I reposted an updated version of a previous message. I have written from a hospital bed, in sickness, grief and with a broken heart. I’ve been depressed, uninspired, angry, and sad, didn’t know what to write or didn’t really want to sometimes. When I started writing I could type almost 40 words per minute. As my hands grew weaker I started writing every Torch using my mouse and clicking every letter using an on-screen keyboard. It’s been trying but that righteous root inside me always rises to the occasion and helps me do what I do every Tuesday. I am not giving these examples out of arrogance or self-pity they are to show that the righteous don’t move no matter what.

David gives us a clue to how we can do this; he says “I saw the Lord always before me.” When the Lord is at our right hand helping us we will not be moved away from righteousness (Acts 2:25). We are not established by our wickedness it will get us nowhere in the long run. If we are all born into wickedness how then can we come to God? How can we live on His holy mountain? If we don’t move we will always do what is righteous; we will be blameless and always speak the truth from our heart. We will not slander people; do what is wrong to our neighbors or cast insults and accusations toward others. We will despise the evil man and honor those who serve the Lord; we keep our word even when it hurts without wavering. When we lend money to the poor we will not charge them interest or accept bribes that take advantage of the innocent. If we do these things we will never be moved or shaken from what is right (Psalm 15). Most of all we need to always keep the Lord in our sight and let Him go with us and be not moved from righteousness. We must understand that Jesus is our righteous root. If we remain in Him and He inside of us how can we move from that place? Don’t move from following Jesus and doing what He always did. Don’t move from seeing and speaking good things about others. Don’t move from righteousness into wickedness that ends in destruction. Don’t move away from speaking the truth in love from inside our hearts. Don’t move from being kind to the poor and the innocent; always keeping our promises to others. The righteous don’t move away from righteousness no matter what because Jesus is our root.
