Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.
We learned about debauchery last week which is often associated with sexual sin and drinking but really it’s just us feeding our lusts. It is best to strive for goodness so God will think on us with goodness. He looks on us with goodness according to what we’ve done for goodness to the people in our lives. What good are we doing for the people in our lives? Are we doing anything for good in this life? Last year the Lord seemed to shower His goodness in my life more than I remember previously. I accepted it all humbly and am not bragging in sharing this. In previous years we have helped so many by opening our hearts and home to them. We have taken in people when they were down on their luck so many times they are hard to count. Unfortunately sometimes givers only attract takers so it didn’t come without being despitefully used or taken advantage of. Christ tells us to do good to people even when they hate us or despitefully use us (Matthew 5:44). In quite a few instances my family has done this and I’m sure there have been times we haven’t but we have tried. When friends have no money we take them out to eat, when people need a place to crash our doors are open and where we see needs we try to bless even when our money is tight. Are we willing to pay the price for good by being good to the less desirable? So last year God showed goodness to us I’m not saying we deserved it more than others. Some people at church did a benefit for my family to help us get a new handicapped van and eight times our meal got paid for in restaurants by strangers. The point is God remembers our goodness and He returns it to us; sometimes through people or in other creative ways.
God will give us a token for our good or to make us better in some way. This is so our haters can see and be ashamed knowing that God has confronted us and blessed us with His help (Psalm 86:17). He makes them see and be ashamed of their hatefully ways so they will turn from them and walk in blessing also. If we will just love God like we should we know that he will work it out for our good. By living good we are fulfilling the purpose we’ve been call to (Romans 8:28). It’s simple really it goes back to sowing and reaping. If we sow what is good and it gets the proper care we will reap what is for good to us. Each one of us is created by the handiwork of God in our mother’s womb. And now in Christ we were created to do good works. God prepared beforehand our good works so that we would do them and not forsake what we were made to do (Ephesians 2:10). In Christ the grace of God has come to bring salvation to us all. Grace tells us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts to live sensible godly lives in this wicked generation. We deny these things by looking ahead and hoping in the appearing of our Lord and Jesus Christ in all His glory. He gave himself to us so we could be redeemed from our lawless deeds and to purify for Himself a people that belong to Him. Creating a people zealous for good deeds as they do them onto others (Titus 2:11-14). Again, what are we doing for good? It doesn’t have to be feeding thousands who are hungry or building an orphanage. It might be babysitting the neighbor cat, secretly paying for a strangers meal or sitting with a friend who is sick. The important thing is that where we see a need we are willing to do what is for good that will touch others even haters and users because God loves them to.
Recently Tuesdays Torch has expanded its reach by building our official website http://www.tuesdaystorch.com . With the addition of the Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures we are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several other speaking engagements lined up for the near future. We pray the words of this Torch and every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward Tuesdays Torch to encourage others with its message. If there are any churches or ministries that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: email@example.com and we will help it happen. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch. Thanks and God Bless!
