Be merciful to those who doubt
Last week we discussed how planting small seeds of goodness can make a big difference in the world. Before that we learned about not being double minded. We do this when we waver between righteousness and wickedness. This is often caused by unbelief; not believing what God said to us. We all have struggled with this at some point in our lives especially when the Lord doesn’t do what we think He should. For example, God why do you let innocent children suffer at the hand of perverts, accidents or diseases? This is a big argument for unbelief. Who would serve a God who lets bad things happen? Freedom isn’t free unfortunately and mankind has taken this liberty to indulge in every kind of evil. Sin has merciless consequences and is not concerned about whom ever it has to hurt to get its kicks. We cannot fully know how our sin will affect future generations in our lives and in everyone we influence. Just like we plant small seeds of goodness we can also plant weeds that will choke out the lives of other plants. Unbelief has been a nagging pain in the neck for me most of my life. I know what the Word of God says about His desire heal us while we are on earth. My family and I have done everything we’ve learned to seek God for mine and my deceased brothers healing. In the natural we might wonder is it even possible because it didn’t appear to help him so much. I have learned to be patient and ask these questions less the more and more I learn about Gods goodness. He says it in His Word, He is not a liar and when we’ve done all to stand we must stand firm and ready ourselves for battle.
If we struggle with unbelief we should do like the man who asked Jesus to heal his son. Jesus asked do you believe. The man answers I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief (Mark 9:24). He believed or thought he did but just in case he didn’t he asked Jesus to help him with his unbelief. Not only did Jesus help the unbelief but He showed the man the results of believing. If we have unbelief in any area, ask God; help me overcome my unbelief and He will do it. There is no reason for any brethren to have a sinful unbelieving heart that turns away from God. We are to remind one another daily so we won’t harden our hearts with sin and deceit (Hebrews 3:12-13). Israel in the wilderness seen the mighty works of God and still rebelled through unbelief. This made God angry so they wondered for forty years then died there in the sand. They were not allowed to enter the promise land because of their unbelief (Hebrews 3:16-19). Unbelief is sin and will keep us from receiving what we know God has promised to us. Paul was not only an unbeliever he was blasphemous and persecuted the church unto death. The Lord however was merciful to him because he acted in unbelief and was ignorant about Christ (1 Timothy 1:13). We must likewise be merciful to those who doubt because their unbelief maybe out of ignorance. When they see the truth of Christ they may go on to be one of the greatest champions of the faith. Thomas the apostle of Christ because he didn’t see Christ raised with the rest of them would not believe Jesus had risen. Not only until he touched the scars of Christ did he believe (John 20:27). We must stop doubting we know the price Christ paid to save us and when we doubt it is like He died for nothing. Remember His scars today and believe that He will do everything He said would do for us.
Recently Tuesdays Torch has expanded its reach by building our official website http://www.tuesdaystorch.com . With the addition of the Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures we are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several other speaking engagements lined up for the near future. We pray the words of this Torch and every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward Tuesdays Torch to encourage others with its message. If there are any churches or ministries that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: firstname.lastname@example.org and we will help it happen. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch. Thanks and God Bless!
