Tuesdays Torch week 282

Tuesday’s Torch

By: Tim Sader

Mark 4:27

Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.

To learn about the new Torch format and to review last week’s study about not being double-minded please go to our website at the beginning of the last paragraph. I remember to many times when I was living a double minded life. When I was younger me and my other friends would meet for bible study once or twice a week and really devote ourselves to learning about God. The next night and on the weekends I would get drunk and smoke marijuana with my friends who I could have been a better example to. Because I didn’t do it all the time surely it wouldn’t hurt to get drunk on the weekend. It was so bad I was president of my youth group everyone looked up to me and sometimes I’d be stoned at church. What an example that was to the younger teens in the group even if they didn’t know what I was doing. God could see and I was being double minded; I was unstable in all my ways. Unfortunately such behavior happened on and off for several years. I still felt like I loved God and tried to keep Him in my life but I was a hater and He was jealous for me to give Him my undivided attention. He has my attention now I’m still far from perfect but by grace I’m being perfected and growing closer every day. I was planting seeds with weeds in the garden of influence I was supposed to cultivate with my life. This week I’ve been thinking of seeds and how amazing every seed is. Seeds come in many sizes but are small in comparison to the plant it will produce. In that seed is everything the plant needs to start growing. In essence when we hold the seed in our hand we are holding onto the plant itself yet it seems like a worthless pebble that is good for nothing.

How many of us feel like we are doing nothing for the Lord in our daily lives? I know I’ve felt this many times even with my writing when I thought no one was reading it. We need to be encouraged to do little things that are pleasing to the Lord because even those things can make a big difference. One smile, a word of encouragement, a random act of kindness to a stranger, an apology, a phone call or a hug could plant something inside of someone that could change their life. The little things in life often become the things that we wish we would have done at the end of our lives. Little things are like seeds; we don’t how or what will grow but it could be something great. We cannot know how one act of righteousness will impact others. When our seed falls on good soil people hear the word and understand it. They produce a bountiful harvest many times greater than our seeds (Matthew 13:23). A mustard seed is one of the smallest seeds on earth. When it is planted it grows so large that birds can nest in it (Mark 4:31-32). Even the smallest seed we plant can grow into something massive. When we plant we don’t start with a plant; we start with a little seed. That seed is in essence the plant; all the information and material it needs to start growing is in the seed. Once it’s been planted God gives the seed its body (1 Corinthians 15:37-38). When we plant a seed God sends others to water it. That way it’s not about the one who plants or the one who waters but how God makes it grow (1 Corinthians 3:6-7). We may not understand how God is using us but even the small seeds of love we plant can make an abundant harvest. Make an effort each day to plant seeds that have a great impact in the world.

Recently Tuesdays Torch has expanded its reach by building our official website . With the addition of the Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures we are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several other speaking engagements lined up for the near future. We pray the words of this Torch and every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward Tuesdays Torch to encourage others with its message. If there are any churches or ministries that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: and we will help it happen. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch. Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
