2 Peter 1:10
Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble
By example, to be an example we are called to follow Christ and He will give us the strength to do all things. Samson was strong because God gave him the strength to do what he needed to. His hair and keeping it long was the deal God made with him to keep his strength. When he was tricked by his wife to tell the secret of his power his enemy cut off his hair. After being blinded and enslaved he prayed to God for His strength to return and it did so he could avenge himself. If we trust God to be our strength we cannot fail in doing His purpose in our lives. We cannot misuse His strength though or it will lead us into bondage and sin. There are many mysteries we don’t understand so we can’t always understand what God is doing. He gives us the strength even to do what we can’t quite understand. If we follow Him every day is holy and everyday His joy can be our strength. We can do nothing without Him so what we do should be inside His will then we will always have His strength in doing all things. Like Samson, even if we messed up God will give us strength when we call on Him again. Disobedience to God will weaken our faith in Him and we will stop trusting Him to be our strength. When we know God is giving us strength and we follow His will we will have the strength to do all things. Many of us are searching for the will of God in our lives. Often times we fell that we are not doing His will or are unsure about what that is. Sometimes it seems like we will never know it but it isn’t difficult because there are things we can do to be in His will to reach that ultimate will for our lives.
If we delight in the Lord He will fulfill the desires of our heart (Psalm 37:4). By delighting in Him we are doing what pleases Him if this is so then our desires will be good and are His will. To do His will we cannot follow the patterns of the world but renew our minds in Christ so we can find what God’s will is. His will is always good, pleasing and perfect (Romans 12:2). What is done in the kingdom of God is what the will of God is here on earth just like it is done heaven (Mathew 6:10). One way we do this is by the example of Jesus. If we do like Him we are in the will of God. Through Him we have been blessed in heavenly realms with all spiritual blessings. In Him we were chosen to do what is holy, blameless and according to love (Ephesians 1:3-4). We need to persevere in doing the will of God and we will receive what He promised (Hebrews 10:36). When we suffer in our bodies we should suffer like Christ by putting on His attitude to be done with sin. By doing this we do not live our lives for evil human desires but to do the will of God (1 Peter 4:1-2). If we love the things of this world more than we love God we cannot love Him. All worldly ways, lusting after things and being prideful is not from God but from the world. Those things will all pass away but if we do the will of God we live forever (1 John 2:15-17). Because of this we should make an effort to walk in faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, affection for others and in love. By doing these things we will confirm our calling and will not stumble over worldly desires. Also we will be welcomed into the kingdom of God (2 Peter 1:5-11). To do His will we must delight in the lord, do what pleases Him, preserver in suffering, say no to sin and walk in love. His will is that we do nothing here that we would not do in His kingdom. If we do this His kingdom is come into our lives.
Recently Tuesdays Torch has expanded its reach by building our official website http://www.tuesdaystorch.com . With the addition of the Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures we are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several other speaking engagements lined up for the near future. We pray the words of this Torch and every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward Tuesdays Torch to encourage others with its message. If there are any churches or ministries that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: firstname.lastname@example.org and we will help it happen. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch. Thanks and God Bless!
