Tuesdays Torch week 268

Tuesday’s Torch

Numbers 11:3

So that place was called Taberah, because fire from the LORD had burned among them.

We should not bow to anything that is not God. We do this by examining our self so there will be found no fault in us. If God were to examine our hearts right now would He find it to be wicked or righteous? We need to examine all our ways to see if they are right because we can’t hide them from God. If we fail all we have to do is turn back to God and follow Him again. A good measure to examine ourselves with is whether we are in faith or not. To remain in faith we must always be mindful of God’s love and faithfulness to us. Then we can have confidence when the Lord sees into all our ways. As we do communion we are told to examine ourselves to make things right with God and be found not guilty of His blood and body. By discerning our ways we will not so easily come under the judgment of God. When we are judged it is for our own good to save us from being condemned. On a list of things to do for successful relationships one item on it was practice self-awareness. It advises to reflect on what we contribute to our relationship. In the same way we must examine our heart because from out of the heart proceeds the issues of life. By examining our hearts we remain pure, keep in faith and walk in love. Actually our hearts should have an unquenchable burning for the Lord that never runs out. We serve the God of the universe and he cares about each of us enough to live in us. That one thought should ignite such a burning and hunger for the Lord that can only be satisfied by more of Him. If we have burning hearts for the Lord He will always be present with us.

A few days ago I was thinking about what was done with the heart of an animal during burnt sacrifices. As I studied the scriptures concerning the heart of sacrifices I concluded it was left inside the animal. The fat on the organs, part of the liver and kidneys were burned on the altar while the flesh, hide and intestines were burned outside the camp for a sin offering (Exodus 29:13-14). Sin gets into our hearts so the animal burned as a sin offering was burned with the heart in it to take place of our sins. Fire consumed the animal like we should be filled with the spirit and the word of God. If our hearts are burning in this way we will not be able to keep it inside. It will come out of our mouths and be seen in how we live our lives (Jeremiah 20:9). His word should be like a fire shut up in our bones that we cannot keep inside. Whatever we meditate on ignites a fire in our hearts and it is what will come out of us when we speak (Psalm 39:3). Since we have received the kingdom of God in our lives we need to be thankful, praise and stand in awe of Him. He is a consuming fire so if He lives in us we will have burning hearts for Him (Hebrews 12:29-29). When the disciples ran into Jesus on the road after He was raised they did not recognize Him with their eyes. They felt something familiar in their hearts when He spoke scripture to them but doubted it was Him because He was crucified. They said were our hearts not burning while He talked to us and when He shared scriptures with us (Luke 24:32). Do we have burning hearts for the Lord or are they burning to only satisfy ourselves. If God is truly burning in our hearts His fire will come out of us in words and deeds. Our heart should be called Taberah because fire from the Lord burns in there and He wants to burn among us.

Recently Tuesdays Torch has expanded its reach by building our official website . With the addition of the Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures we are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several other speaking engagements lined up for the near future. We pray the words of this Torch and every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward Tuesdays Torch to encourage others with its message. If there are any churches or ministries that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: and we will help it happen. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch. Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
