Job 13:9

Would it turn out well if he examined you? Could you deceive him as you might deceive a mortal?

To keep sin from growing inside of us we must never bow down to it. Instead we must learn to do what is right and pleasing to the Lord. If we worship stuff more than God then it becomes master over us. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were thrown in a fiery furnace when they would not bow to a golden statue of the king. They knew God would be with them in the fire and He was because there was a man in there, somehow protecting them. The king finally called them out of the fire and declared praise to the God who delivered them from the flames. The devil tempted Jesus by telling Him to bow down and worship him. We cannot have two masters if we love stuff or certain sins more than God we have bowed to it and it’s becoming our master. Let us examine our hearts a moment and think about what is our master. If it is not God let’s get it right so we only bow to Him. Very few may be left standing when everyone else has bowed to everything that is not God. If we are not afraid to stand alone for God against what others bow to, we will never be alone. God is with us even in the worst heat if we will not bow to the wicked one. The only reason to bow with the crowd is when they bow to pray or the end of time has come and we all bow to God. When we examine our own hearts we are making the decision to stand up and turn from what we once bowed to. We examine our own self so when God sees our heart He will find no fault in it.

How would it turn out if God were to examine our hearts right now? Would He find un-forgiveness, hate, bitterness and sin or His word, faith and righteousness? Men we can deceive or hide from them what is in our heart but God sees it all. We need to examine all our ways to see if they’re right. If we fail the test all we have to do is change our ways and turn back to the Lord and do better to follow Him (Lamentations 3:40). To test ourselves we must examine whether we are in faith or not. If we are not in faith it seems that Christ truly is not in us. Let us test and see if Christ is in us today by seeing if we are in faith (2 Corinthians 13:5). After we make things right, to remain that way we must be mindful of Gods unfailing love and rely on His faithfulness. Then we can confidently say test me Lord. Look into my heart and examine my mind to see that I am doing the best that I can to be in faith (Psalm 26:2-3). Before we take communion we are told to examine ourselves to see if we are guilty of the blood and body of Christ (1 Corinthians 11:28). If we find sin in us this is a good opportunity to make things right with God. If we will discern our own ways we would not so easy come under the judgment of God. When we are judged by the Lord however terrifying it may be it is for our own good. He disciplines us so we will not be condemned with the world (1 Corinthians 11:31-32). On a list of 50 things to do if you want a relationship to last on the Thought Catalog website number fourteen is practice self-awareness. It advises to look in the mirror often and reflect on the contributions we are making to the relationship. If we will use this advice to watch what goes into our heart we will have a better relationship with the Lord. We must always examine our hearts to keep it pure, grow in our faith and walk in unfailing love.

Recently Tuesdays Torch has expanded its reach by building our official website http://www.tuesdaystorch.com . With the addition of the Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures we are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several other speaking engagements lined up for the near future. We pray the words of this Torch and every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward Tuesdays Torch to encourage others with its message. If there are any churches or ministries that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: tuesdaystorch@gmail.com and we will help it happen. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch. Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
