Titus 1:15

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

Last year was a great year we should look back at it and count all the blessings God has blessed us with. 2014 is an opportunity for all of us to go further with the Lord by beginning again to fall in love with Him or finding Him for the first time. When trouble comes and the righteous fall they get back up again. The wicked stay down because they are down already. To begin again we start by going to Jesus, the Word who was from the beginning. By going to the Word of God again we build our faith and learn to follow His commands which are not new. The greatest command is that we love others. So to begin again we must be willing to love again. By Christ showing us love on the cross He gives us the opportunity to start again. He is on the throne and He makes us new again. He is the end to our stumbling and the beginning of our life with Him this year and forever. If we continue to thirst after Him we will be filled with a fountain of life. Those who begin again will have the victory and will become the children of God. Those who choose to remain wicked or will not believe only inherit death and hell. It is never too late to come to God or to begin again with Him. To those who are corrupt or unbelieving nothing is pure because they have not chosen to be made that way. To the pure all things are pure because if we are pure we will not do what is corrupt. There is only one we know of to be completely pure and He is Christ.

Not one of us is completely pure. All of us have been made corrupt and turned away from purity to follow our own desires (Psalm 14:3). To be pure we must learn to first trust in God and devote ourselves to do only what is good. It is beneficial that we do good and avoid foolish controversies over who said or did what. We should avoid arguments and quarrels about what is or isn’t lawful because it is useless. Say what is good or profitable once or twice if it’s not accepted without debate walk away from it (Titus 3:8-10). There is no better way to explain purity then what is expected of elders. To be an elder we must be without fault, faithful to wives, have children with unwavering faith who are not wild or disobedient. To manage the house of God we must not be over bearing, quick tempered, not drunk, violent or seeking dishonest gain. Rather we should be welcoming, lovers of good, self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. We must hold firmly to what we have been taught to encourage others with the gospel and oppose those who say it is untrue (Titus 1:6-9). To be pure we must flee from evil, pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace and purpose God with all our heart. Also we must avoid stupid arguments that do nothing more than cause hostility between us and others (2 Timothy 2:22-23). Since Christ is the only one pure He is our example of what we are trying to be. He is also the only way we can come close to purity. Through Him we are forgiven from the corruption of sin if we believe in Him. If we trust in the Lord and pursue righteousness above all else we will have a pure heart. The pure in heart are blessed because they shall see God (Matthew 5:8). If we’ve been made pure by Christ we must remain that way by doing what is right.

Recently Tuesdays Torch has expanded its reach by building our official website http://www.tuesdaystorch.com . With the addition of the Daily Spark and Scripture Pictures we are further spreading the message of Christ. We have accepted the opportunity for Tuesday’s Torch to be in Redeemed the Magazine for prisoners. The founder and author of Tuesdays Torch Tim Sader, has spoken in church and has several other speaking engagements lined up for the near future. We pray the words of this Torch and every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward Tuesdays Torch to encourage others with its message. If there are any churches or ministries that would like to partner with Tuesdays Torch please let us know. We pray the Lord will touch every reader. All of what Christ did was so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesday we talk a little more about what He did and what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was send His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer we pray they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: tuesdaystorch@gmail.com and we will help it happen. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch on our website, by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch. Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
