Tuesdays Torch week 236

Tuesday’s Torch
07/09/13
By: Tim Sader

Romans 8:5

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

Caregivers and guardians share the disability with us. They help us Beabled with support and share also in the fears we face. Some fears need to be looked into so we won’t be trapped by them. God has us through all fear if we trust Him and are not afraid to ask for what we need from others. We can’t be scared of maybes letting them keep us from reaching out and asking for help. When people are around who want to help it is not a burden for them. Actually it is probably their gift and the Lord wants them to share it with us. When we need help and deny it when asked we are lying. The other side of hospitality is graciously accepting. Caregivers often have a hard time letting go of giving the care. Not just anyone can help us like who ever does it all the time but almost anyone can do a good job with a little instruction. By not letting go or allowing the help of others we hinder their gifts. If they are not comfortable doing something it will be obvious or they won’t ask to help. Relying on others is important to us fitting in and finding our gifts. Fear should not keep us from others. The Beabled have relationships because they add value to our lives. Everyone needs to feel like they fit in somewhere. In the past 50 years with technology the world accepts the disabled but in the church we can still be looked down on if healing hasn’t come. The first place the disabled should fit in is the home and at church so they can Beabled not enabled to be disabled. The Beabled cannot live to satisfy their disability. If we are born of the Spirit our minds should be set on what He desires not what we want.

People with disabilities are not the disability and don’t want to be defined by it. We all have gifts from God this is also true for the Beabled we want to use and develop our gifts to. Healing is a big part of what God has called the church to do. But it’s wrong to get offended if nothing seems to happen and neglect that person. The Beabled want prayer and we are seeking healing but we don’t always need or might not feel like having someone pray over us. Laying on of hands is important but what’s more important is following the Spirit not the emotions. Sometimes people think less of the disabled but remember God chooses the weak or despised to nullify how much greater they think they are (1 Corinthians 1:27-29). After being prayed for if a need remains there must be some reason maybe it’s to give opportunity to others so they can help us. There is some glory in suffering it produces strength and helps us learn to hope in the Lord. There’s no shame in hope it is a reminder of how much God loves us (Romans 5:3-5). Recently I saw this in action when I had the opportunity to speak at church. I seen how much it encouraged people and caused their hope to rise; realizing if I could do that they can do what is difficult. The Beabled sometimes are just looking for a friend, encouragement or a little help doing something. These things help heal people to it is helping carry their burdens (Galatians 6:2). Remember the interests of the Beabled we might not be at that service seeking prayer. It’s more about who they chose to help and what the Spirit is doing not their own interests (Philippians 12:3-4). The Beabled will reach out for what the Lord is doing. The main thing is following God; we are people and want to fit in and be blessing like each of us should be.

We will be expanding the reach of Tuesdays Torch to shine our light so others can see it and be saved. We pray the words of this Tuesdays Torch and every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward The Torch to others so we can encourage them with its message. If there are any churches or ministries that could benefit from the sharing Tuesdays Torch please let us know so together we can spread the light into dark places. We pray the Lord will continue touching every reader. All of what Christ did He did so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesdays Torch we talk a little more about what He did and talk about what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was sending us His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer our prayer is that they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: tuesdaystorch@gmail.com and we will help it happen. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch. Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16

Tuesdays Torch week 235

Tuesday’s Torch
07/02/13
By: Tim Sader

John 16:24

Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.

Many people with disabilities have a person or people who care for them and in many ways these people share in the responsibility of helping them Beabled. Caring for someone is a reward by investing into them we learn to love and make their life better. Much of what was shared last week is for parents but care givers can apply these principles. If who we care for is an adult we can encourage them to Beabled and assist them in doing it. If your child can’t talk or do on their own help them do what it takes and guide them along the way. Don’t pity the child or disabled but teach them and encourage correct behavior through punishment if appropriate. With children discipline is needed to keep them from harm and help them be everything they can be. Discipline is important not so we can be bossy but to teach what’s right for whom we care for. Much of this for parents is being a good example. If we’re not how will they make it in life? For some disabilities teaching is hard but often times it is achieved by keeping a schedule and getting them used to all the right things. Discipline can make things go smoother, give us more peace and make us delight in them. We help someone Beabled by supporting them and believing in the abilities they have. The Beabled need discipline in their lives or they will find ruin so care givers help them to be great. We have discussed fear a lot but there are some fears we need to especially be aware of so we cannot be tricked. These fears happen to Beabled individual as well as their supporters. The Lord has us by the hand so all fears need to be recognized and dealt with (Isaiah 41:13). God is our help if only we will ask and trust in Him to be our everything.

The fears that we face are not really even there it goes back to the what ifs we discussed before. The Beabled know God has their hand. We know He will answer if we will ask but we have to ask! We cannot let maybes stop us from doing things, approaching people or allowing them to help us when we need help. Often times we fear asking for help thinking we will be a burden but in most cases it would bless them greatly. We will not have what we need if we stay to afraid to ask for it. Some people have a gift of helps (1 Corinthians 12:28). So if someone even approaches our situation offering help chances are it’s their gift from God and true desire to help us out. No one can help us like our care giver can but with proper instruction anyone could do a good job. Using discretion is a good idea and we shouldn’t ask for what we can do on our own or pawn off our responsibilities. When someone offers hospitality to us it’s almost like grumbling against them if we lie and tell them we don’t. Another part of hospitality is accepting it. They are trying to use their gift to be a faithful servant of God and if we deny them we are holding them back (1 Peter 4:9-10). Care givers often struggle with letting go of their responsibility thinking no one will do it right. We should not hinder those who want to help (Luke 18:16). If they were not comfortable doing it they would not want to. Us relying on others and even children being with other kids is important (Hebrews 10:25). We should not forsake forming close relationships with others so we can help build each other up. The Beabled will not let some fear keep us from others; what they add to our lives is priceless.

We will be expanding the reach of Tuesdays Torch to shine our light so others can see it and be saved. We pray the words of this Tuesdays Torch and every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers. Please feel free to forward The Torch to others so we can encourage them with its message.
