Tuesday’s Torch

By: Tim Sader

 Luke 4:40

At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them.

After seeing how big God is in a dream I had while in the hospital struggling to breath I learned to put my trust in Him. The problem I had was with too much oxygen because I could not properly exhale my carbon dioxide. Even too much of a good thing can be bad in excess. The only thing we can’t have too much of is God as long as He’s in control. God is big and if we’re in His grasp He will watch over us all the days of our life. God holds us up with the power of His righteous right hand. This power is given Jesus and he will be our help in troubled times. While lying in that hospital bed faced with so much uncertainty I had a lot of time to think. I thought a lot about my life and the choices I had made so far. I got to thinking about what I wanted to do for the rest of my life if I’d get to live it. One night I felt something break off of me. I do not know if that was the moment my blood gasses regulated or the moment of crisis passing when my body decided to fight. At that moment something inside of me changed. I refused to be sick and broken. I was totally unhappy with the care I received in the progressive care unit. They were not devoting the level of care someone with my condition needed to get well. In that moment I saw health care really had some problems that needed to be fixed. After a night of no one checking on me I took charge. I demanded to be moved to intensive care until they knew I was well enough to go home than my situation improved.

During the rest of my time there a plan began to form inside of me. At first I wanted to control things and came up with an elaborate service organization to aid disabled people while in the hospital. How many of us realize God sees things on a grander scale? His ultimate plan for healing is Jesus’ bloodshed to heal our ailments and to cure sickness and disease (Isaiah 53:5). This job of healing the sick Christ put on those who believe in Him. The Church is called to bring healing to all people because in doing so they experience the love of God (Mark 16:17-18). Currently more than ninety percent of healing is done outside of the church in hospitals that deny the existence of God. We need to understand that creation cannot be separated from the Creator. Whenever man tries this he is brought to ruin. Part of the reason Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed is because they tried to change what we were naturally created to do (Genesis 19). The natural order is creation doing what the Creator made us to do. We were created to cultivate the land, be fruitful, serve God and have dominion in the earth. The church should be more involved in health care because it is part of our dominion as believers. He told us to lay our hands on the sick and they shall recover. We have the power of Jesus inside us to heal them. God gave man knowledge also to heal through the cultivation of earth and the understanding of our bodies. When we lay our hands on the sick we need to do all we can to make them well. Jesus a couple times did do a bit more than just touch the people. One time He made mud with spit and put it in the blind man’s eyes so he could see (John 9:6-7). He had to get His hands actively involved in this healing him. Healing must be done for the church to be the church. We have a hole in health care that can only be filled by Jesus. We are His hands so we should bring healing to the world!

We will be expanding the reach of Tuesdays Torch to shine our light so others can see it and be saved.  We pray the words of this Tuesdays Torch and every Torch will sink into the hearts and minds of readers.  Please feel free to forward The Torch to others so we can encourage them with its message. If there are any churches or ministries that could benefit from the sharing Tuesdays Torch please let us know so together we can spread the light into dark places. We pray the Lord will continue touching every reader. All of what Christ did He did so we would believe. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what He did (John 14:11). Every Tuesdays Torch we talk a little more about what He did and talk about what He is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was sending us His Son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer our prayer is that they will meet the Lord. If anyone wants to make Jesus Christ their Savior send a message to: and we will help it happen. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch. Thanks and God Bless!

No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16
