Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”
Last week we learned what it means to be clean on the inside where water can’t reach. Jesus told us to be clean and we are made that way only through His shed blood. The leper knew where to go to be clean and we must go to Him to be cleansed as well. Cleaning a dish or car only on the outside does very little for it if inside it is still dirty. Getting clean beneath the skin starts by being generous if we give it all away there’s nothing left to mess us up. To stay clean we must wash with soap and inside we need soap as well. This soap is the words that come from God in the bible and fellowship with Him. If we apply it daily inside it will clean up the other words spoken to us or coming out of us. Lastly we cannot be made clean with the shedding of blood as a sacrifice for the sin that made us dirty. To be washed in His blood we must believe in Him. When He tells us to be clean immediately we will be cleansed on the inside and free from our sin. With Jesus we have a cushion when things are bad or if we fall along our path of striving after Him. If we keep our faith in the Lord even in the storm where all hope is gone we can rest like Jesus on the boat in the storm. The disciples could not believe Jesus could sleep through a storm like this but He was not afraid God was His cushion and in Him we get our cushion to. Whatever we face He is there with us so we can sleep on our cushion and make it through our storms.
While preparing today I got to thinking about the storms He’s brought me through. With Muscular Dystrophy arise many trials and storms to make it through. I remember when I first couldn’t walk anymore I didn’t want to be the different kid in class but I had to deal with it by choosing in fifth grade to have a good attitude. Later I wanted to drive but couldn’t, had respiratory complications and finally found love only to lose it for selfish reasons. These storms I only made it through because I had a cushion to fall on so I could get back up again. Through Jesus our sins are forgiven and we are healed so we no longer need the old mat we once laid down on. Now Jesus is our cushion because only he can do what we couldn’t do before on our old mat (Matthew 9:5-7). Even death cannot keep us on the old mat because Jesus has the power to tell the dead man to get up and he will rise again (Luke 7:14-15). Our God cushion is not only a place for us to fall it is a place for us to get back up again. Though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes (Proverbs 24:16). When we fall yes the Lord is there for us to fall on but no matter how much we fall if He is our cushion we will rise again. “God is not so much disappointed in our falling as He is pleased when we rise again” -Rick Joyner. The Lord commands His angels for us so we will not fall hard and be harmed. They will hold us up in their hands to be our cushion when troubles comes (Psalm 91:11-12). Just like Jesus had a cushion on the boat we have a cushion through faith in Him to make it through our storms. Let us not forget His benefits through Him we are healed, saved and set free (Psalm 103:2-3). Having faith in the Lord is our cushion so we can get up again and strive to be the best we can be.
I will be working on expanding the reach of Tuesdays Torch and transitioning it into other forms to shine the light so others can see its shining and be saved. I pray the words of this Tuesdays Torch and every Torch will sink into your hearts and minds as you go about your busy week. Please feel free to forward The Torch to others so it can reach more people with its message of encouragement. If you are involved in churches or ministries that could benefit from the sharing of Tuesdays Torch please let me know so together we can be torch bearers to carry this flame into the dark places. I pray the Lord will continue touching each of your lives. All of what Christ did He did so we would believe in who He said He is. He told us not to believe because of what He said but in what he did (John 14:11). Every Tuesdays Torch we talk a little more about what He did and testify to what he is still doing. The best thing God has ever done was sending us His only son so we could be saved (John 3:16). If anyone is not a believer my prayer is that you will meet the Lord so He transform your life too. If it’s on your heart to make Jesus Christ your Savior send a message to: firstname.lastname@example.org and we will help you do that. Look out for next Tuesdays Torch by email or find it on Facebook by searching Tuesdays Torch or by clicking here also please share and like our page. Thanks and God Bless all of you!
Blessed are you who enter in God’s name—from God’s house we bless you! God is God, he has bathed us in light. Psalm 118:26-27
