Tuesday’s Torch

By: Tim Sader

Luke 12:40

You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

Last week we learned what Christ said about the gospel being preached to the whole world before the end can come.  We are sent out with power and are told to use our gifts to bear fruit so others can be set free from their bondage and be saved through the power of God in Christ.  We must be doing the work of the kingdom and spreading the gospel message throughout the entire world and this will be a testimony of the truth spoken by Christ and the end cannot come until it has been fulfilled.  To live true godly lives we must follow Christ’s example so we are not preaching one gospel and living another.  This doesn’t mean we can be perfect; many thought Jesus was not perfect but there was a glory in Him that made the difference and that same glory is what makes them see Him in us when we do His will.  The power in preaching is the word of God if we preach His word we will help save others and free them from their hurting and we will see His word is true.  The Jesus of the bible He is Christ not a fictional character, great man or prophet He is God’s son and any gospel that says contrary to this is false and those who accept another gospel after knowing the truth accept the fate of that false messiah.  We cannot be tossed by different doctrine like children who don’t know any better; if we were taught Christ we should be moving into more revelation and our lives should look more like Him.  The Lord has called us to do great things so the earth can see Him in us and be saved as they come to know Christ then the end will come and we will be with Him in glory.

We who know Him already must be watchful, alert and ready for His return I take no position on pre, mid or post tribulation but the signs say it is close so the time to watch is now.  Luke 12:35-39 says, “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning,  like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.  It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them.  It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak.  But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into.”  The servants were to still serve even in the master’s absence they are to serve like He was with them so that when He returns the work will be done and they can enjoy it together.  The good servant will be alert whenever the master decides to return even late into the night and the master will show kindness to the servant by bring Him in to dine with him.  A man would prepare if he knew when the robber would come, he would be alert and his house would not be broken into.  Guess what Christ is coming like a thief and though we do not know when He is to come night is upon us and soon He will come so we better get ready.  Mark 13:35-37 says, “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn.  If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping.  What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”  Church!  We can no longer sleep and feel safe knowing someday we can be ready.  End time prophecies in Syria and Israel are being fulfilled at an astonishing rate if Damascus is destroyed many believe the end is not far from us so it is time to Watch because soon the master will be back.  Today’s verse Luke 12:40 says, “You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”  The time or exact hour no one knows, pre, mid or post tribulation don’t matter so we can stop guessing the best time to be ready is now.  If we are ever ready for that day these other variables do not matter we will be with the Lord because we were awake and ready for His return.

1 Peter 5:8-11 says, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.  And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.  To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.”  When we are alert we are ready for anything that is trying to sneak into our unlocked doors.  The devil our enemy is out there like a lion waiting on us to shift away our watchful eye so he can come out of the bushes and attack us when we are unaware.  To be alert we must keep our faith in focus so that we are strong in the Lord and when the enemy attacks we can resist him.  Throughout the world many suffer for the faith but as Christ suffered a little while so when we suffer it to is temporary and if we are strong in the Lord we will be restored.  1 Peter 1:13-15 says, “Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.  As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.  But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’”  Once we were ignorant and lived how we wanted to by the desires of our flesh that was before we knew Christ.  Christ he is holy, He taught us what was right by teaching it to us and showing us how to live by being what He and the Father want us to be.  Now we know better and live our lives in Him so we must be sober and alert with our hope steadfast in the Lord knowing that soon He will come back for the ones who kept themselves holy by the grace God has given us through Christ.  1 Peter 4:7-8 says, “The end of all things is near.  Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.   Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”  Every day I know the end is closer than it was yesterday but if you will do the research on what’s going on in Syria and read the prophecies concerning Damascus in Isaiah, Ezekiel and Daniel you will think your reading current events.  Now more than ever we should walk in love for God and man by living a love culture, it covers a multitude of sins; after all it is Christ’s love that saved us.  As the end draws near we should do what it takes to be the good servant ready for the master when He returns so we can dine with Him and receive our reward.

I will be working on transitioning this study into both the written format on Tuesday and adding spontaneous group discussions at my house or church if you’d be interested in attending let me know.  The church I attend is MorningStar in Fort Mill, SC you can view meetings by going to where you can register for free then watch Friday School of the Spirit at 7pm EST and Sunday at 9 and 11am EST by clicking watch live at the top of the web screen.  Let the words spoken and the messages spread into your area share it with friends, loved ones and local believers to spread revival across the nation and around the world.  Also for those who don’t already forward the torch to others feel free to forward it to everyone on your buddy list, lets reach more people than ever before with its message.  Share it with your churches if you feel lead to. Thanks I pray the Lord will continue touching each of your lives.  All of what Christ did he did so we would believe in who he said he was.  He told us not to take his word for it but to believe in what he did according to the will of his father who showed him what to do.

I pray that this message will sink into your hearts and minds this week and if anyone is not a believer my prayer is they will meet the Lord.  If it’s on your heart to make Jesus Christ your Savior send a message to my email: and I will help you do that.

Look out for next Tuesdays Torch found on or sent from this study is written by Tim Sader inspired by The Holy Spirit.

Blessed are you who enter in God’s name—from God’s house we bless you! God is God, he has bathed us in light.  Psalm 118:26-27
