And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Last week we learned what Christ said about the harvest and what He meant when He told us about being workers in the harvest fields. The people of the world who don’t know the Lord they are the fields for us to harvest and we are to use our gifts and talents to in a way reap them into the kingdom. Christ went into the field by Himself, He had compassion on the crowds they needed a shepherd to care for them and He went into the field to save them but he needed help so He sent us into the fields so we can help bring in the harvest. Some workers prepare the fields for the harvest by feeding and watering the fields but when the time for the harvest comes it will not wait for us so we must be ready to use the tools God has given us to reach out to bring in this crop. When grain is ripe it bows down under the weight of what’s growing often times this happens when non believers first come to Christ they bow down and are humbled by the weight of the Spirit. Some conversions are not so simple some plants need special care fertilizer, weed killer or extra watering people need special care sometimes so we must follow the Lord in knowing the right season for their harvest. Even when we don’t see the harvest coming we must be steadfast in doing good works so the people continue to receive until the harvest finally comes. A final harvest will come and our work will end when his angels come to collect those who believe the more we work our fields the less harvest will be lost when Christ returns.
We have been sent into this harvest with certain tools and special orders from the Lord to preach the gospel in the entire world. In Mark 16:15-18 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” We are told to go into the world preaching the good news of Christ, baptizing them and setting them free so they can be saved. Those belonging to Christ should bear fruit, certain signs follow them since Christ gave us the power over the enemy, sickness, disease, told us we should speak in new tongues and using our gifts from God we free others from bondage. Doing these things is how we prepare the world for the harvest we talked about last week; preaching is good but we must be doing the work to reach the world. Today’s verse Matthew 24:14 says, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” We know that this gospel will be preached Christ told us it would be, the whole earth being preached will be a testimony for all nations to share in the truth that is God’s word. The end, this final harvest cannot come until the gospel message is seen and preached to all people by us going out and doing what Christ told us to do. 1 Timothy 3:16 says, “Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory. True godliness is doing the will of God, Christ is the stream that gets us there not only through saving us but by coming to us and living a godly life so we would know what godliness looks like and live like that. This gospel is the gospel we are bringing to others if we do not show up looking like Christ we are preaching one gospel but showing them another one I’m not saying we can be perfect like He was but they should see his glory in us. For example if we are suffering or going through things that make us feel not so Christ-like that doesn’t mean we can’t reach others they doubted Him to because He wouldn’t come down off the cross but that did not change who He was.
1 Peter 1:25 says, “But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” Christ being preached is the word of God and in it there is power nothing we do changes the word of God it lasts forever. In preaching Him we should follow His words doing what we can to help save the hurting that is how he is seen in us and we do not miss represent Him so the word will be kept in the highest regard and its truth will set us free. 2 Corinthians 11:4 says, “For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.” The gospel of Jesus passed down in the ancient writings of the New Testament and prophesied to come in Jewish history He is Jesus no other Jesus preached is the same unless He is preached in context with who He is in the bible. His name made it into other religions but if He is not the Son of God fully man and God He is not Christ. He’s more than a prophet, a great man, a made up character or a religious nut and those who accept a gospel contrary to the bible after knowing the truth, accept a fate with those who preach the false gospel. Ephesians 4:14 says, “Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.” We cannot be tossed back and forth between different waves of doctrine like babies who do not know what to do. If we know Christ by believing in Him and have learned His teachings we must move on to the deeper truths of God and our behavior should mimic Christ who showed us what to do. We are called to do great things in the name of the Lord to make Him be seen in all the earth so they will be baptized and saved from whatever had them bound and then the end can come when Christ returns in glory and we are reunited with Him.
I will be working on transitioning this study into both the written format on Tuesday and adding spontaneous group discussions at my house or church if you’d be interested in attending let me know. The church I attend is MorningStar in Fort Mill, SC you can view meetings by going to www.morningstartv.com where you can register for free then watch Friday School of the Spirit at 7pm EST and Sunday at 9 and 11am EST by clicking watch live at the top of the web screen. Let the words spoken and the messages spread into your area share it with friends, loved ones and local believers to spread revival across the nation and around the world. Also for those who don’t already forward the torch to others feel free to forward it to everyone on your buddy list, lets reach more people than ever before with its message. Share it with your churches if you feel lead to. Thanks I pray the Lord will continue touching each of your lives. All of what Christ did he did so we would believe in who he said he was. He told us not to take his word for it but to believe in what he did according to the will of his father who showed him what to do.
I pray that this message will sink into your hearts and minds this week and if anyone is not a believer my prayer is they will meet the Lord. If it’s on your heart to make Jesus Christ your Savior send a message to my email: email@example.com and I will help you do that.
Look out for next Tuesdays Torch found on www.myspace.com/trippy91 or sent from firstname.lastname@example.org this study is written by Tim Sader inspired by The Holy Spirit.
