Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.
Last week we went back and looked at a classic torch about the strength of God I pray it helped you as it did me since I am in good health again, Praise God! Previously we learned about what Jesus said concerning the paths we walk in life the narrow path is hard to follow but in the end that path is the only one that leads to life. There are many number of paths that lead to destruction but we must walk the highwire to keep our eyes on the Lord and we will be able to carefully master the life path. Few will choose to follow the narrow way but those who choose it will be saved since they made the effort to follow the right road. There are many who will think they are on the right road because they were good but to enter the narrow gate we must follow Christ and let Him lead us. There are many paths out there that claim to be the right one but give you no choice to follow or not the road to life and salvation is a choice those who find it find the Lord and through Him find life. On the narrow road is the joy of His presence and to experience the Lord’s presence following the right path will be worth it. The path of life leads upward for those who make the effort to follow Christ and are careful and remain on that road they will be full of joy and given true life.
When we follow the path that leads to life we can fully rely on God so we should have nothing to be afraid of. Matthew 14:26-27 says, When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” The disciples saw Jesus walking toward them on the lake they were scared since they had probably never seen a man walking on the water. They thought He was a ghost and they cried out in fear thinking that somehow they would be harmed by seeing such a strange sight. It really never tells us whether they knew it was Jesus or not but before he ever gets to the boat he tells them to have courage and to not be afraid. If we know that Jesus will be coming to meet us soon and we see something strange happening it could be Jesus telling you to have courage because if you trust Him you don’t need to be afraid. Luke 8:24-25 says, The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. Many times the disciples had their faith tested at sea when first they think a ghost is going to get them then they fear the boat will go down during this storm. Drowning truly is a rational fear if you go down during a storm chances are your not making it back to shore but they were not alone Jesus was with them and He calmed the storm. So where is your faith? If it’s in Jesus then He is with you on the boat so why fear? If you call on Him He will wake up in you and calm your storms. Today’s verse Luke 12:32 says, “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.” We should not fear we are the flock of the good shepherd He is watching over us and He wants to keep us in the fold so we can stay in the flock and be blessed. God is pleased when we let Christ come alive in us through faith we choose to follow Him without fear and we gain access to the kingdom of impossibilities where we do not need to fear what is strange or natural since the Lord is on the boat with us.
2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” The power we have been given is the power of Christ and kingdom of God inside of us so we can overcome every challenge without fear. Notice also that God has not given us a spirit of fear so then if fear is a spirit it cannot influence us unless we listen to it and let it in us. So if fear is tormenting us it is a spirit trying to attack us it is not our fear it is a spirit we can take authority over it and through Christ the storm will be calmed. Romans 8:15 says, “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” Not only have we received power, love and a sound mind we have received the Spirit of adoption becoming sons and daughters through Christ. We have not been made sons so we can be slaves to fear we been made sons because God loved us and there is no fear in love. 1 John 4:18 says, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” In love there is no fear so if we are sons in Christ we have nothing to fear, Father God is love so he drives out all fear. If we hold on to fear we are not operating in true faith when the disciples were afraid He questioned their faith so when we fear our faith is in question to. To let ourselves be made perfect in love we must learn to let go of fear, wake Jesus inside of us and he will calm our storm. If Christ is in the boat all fear must go and we can rest with Him knowing with all certainty that God is watching over us and protecting us in the arms of His great love.
I will be working on transitioning this study into both the written format on Tuesday and adding a weekly or bi-weekly group discussion at my church if you’d be interested in attending let me know. The church I attend is MorningStar in Fort Mill, SC you can view School of the Spirit meetings by going to www.morningstartv.com and register for free then watch Friday for School of the Spirit at 7pm EST and Sunday at 9 and 11am EST by clicking the watch live tab at the top of the web screen. Let the words spoken and the message spread into your area share it with friends, loved ones and local believers to spread revival across the nation and around the world. Also for those who don’t already forward the torch to others feel free to forward it to everyone on your buddy list, lets reach more people than ever before with its message. Share it with your churches if you feel lead to. Thanks I pray the Lord will continue touching each of your lives. All of what Christ did he did so we would believe in who he said he was. He told us not to take his word for it but to believe in what he did according to the will of his father who showed him what to do.
I pray that this message will sink into your hearts and minds this week and if anyone is not a believer my prayer is they will meet the Lord. If it’s on your heart to make Jesus Christ your Savior send a message to my email: email@example.com and I will help you do that.
Look out for next Tuesdays Torch found on www.myspace.com/trippy91 or sent from firstname.lastname@example.org this study is written by Tim Sader inspired by The Holy Spirit.
