You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.
Last week we learned more about planting seeds and how we need to get the soil ready to be planted in so the conditions will be right for them to grow into what the Lord wants them to be. In the parable of the sower seed falls into various soil conditions but the seed only will grow in the good soil where the roots run deep so the plant grows strong. We are all soil so when we sow seed we are sowing into others who like soil will receive seed in different ways so their ground must be cultivated to make the soil good. When sown on the path seed is easily snatched away and it never gets into our heart, on rocky soil the word we received withers because it has nothing to take root in and when sown in thorns the root goes deep but is choked up by the worries and cares of the world. To be good soil we must be conditioned on the word and open to His voice so when it’s time for Him to plant seed in us it goes in our heart and we produce a good crop. We have now been sent out to the fields of life to prepare soil and make it ready for seed so the Lord can receive abundance when harvest time comes. All of us are growing up in the Lord by the sowing of seed in the soil of our hearts and as we grow we become more like the Lord so we can spread more seed in the ground of others. The Lord wants to use us all by planting His goodness in us so we can grow up and spread good seed wherever we go.
The way we keep our soil and how that seed grows is often reflected in the path of life we have chosen for ourselves to walk on. Matthew 7:13-14 says, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Walking the right path is not always the easy path it is difficult for the man of sin to do the right thing and stay on that road. Staying on the road of doing right is much like walking the high wire over a pit of sin it must be carefully mastered. There however are many paths to follow if we do not want to do what is considered right in the eyes of God and all those paths lead to destruction. To get somewhere there are very few paths that will take you the right way all the other ways will take you somewhere but not where you want to be. The narrow road is hard to walk and very few will find that road but those who find it find life what we all are looking for. In Luke 13:22-24 Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem. Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?” He said to them, “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.” Those who will be saved are determined by who made the effort to follow the right path and enter the narrow gate that will bring them into eternal life. Many will try to enter this gate and many will think they are on the right path because they do good deeds, hurt no one or broke no laws but still they could not find the gate that leads to life. We must make every effort to enter by the narrow gate God prepared for us by sending His son so if we set our GPS on Jesus we will be on the right road to find life.
In John 10:9-10 Jesus says, “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Christ is the gate that will lead us to life we enter that life by believing that the blood he shed on the cross is what paid for our sin. This way is narrow because there is only one way to be saved and it takes faith to believe in something that our minds would consider to be silly. Also there are many paths out there claiming to be the right one so how do we know this one is the narrow road? I think its simple really being saved is a choice and for the most part other paths don’t give you the choice you follow the rules and the choice is made for you. These other ways are a thief of souls they steal, kill and destroy men’s hearts but the right path is a path of life found only in Christ our Lord. Today’s scripture Acts 2:28 says, “You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.” While on the path of life we must make every effort to stay on that path because if we take our focus off the Lord we will not know how to stay on that path and we will not feel the joy in His presence. The narrow road is not easy to follow but if we can spend one moment enjoying His presence we will know that it was all worth it. Proverbs 15:24 says, “The path of life leads upward for the prudent to keep them from going down to the realm of the dead.” The path of life leads upward for those who are careful and remain on that narrow road they will be full of joy because they have experienced the presence of God in their life. Those who make the effort to follow Christ have found the narrow gate so if we will follow Him we will be saved from the realm of the dead and given true life in Him.
I will be working on transitioning this study into both the written format on Tuesday and adding a weekly or bi-weekly group discussion at my church if you’d be interested in attending let me know. The church I attend is MorningStar in Fort Mill, SC you can view School of the Spirit meetings by going to www.morningstartv.com and register for free then watch Friday for School of the Spirit at 7pm EST and Sunday at 9 and 11am EST by clicking the watch live tab at the top of the web screen. Let the words spoken and the message spread into your area share it with friends, loved ones and local believers to spread revival across the nation and around the world. Also for those who don’t already forward the torch to others feel free to forward it to everyone on your buddy list, lets reach more people than ever before with its message. Share it with your churches if you feel lead to. Thanks I pray the Lord will continue touching each of your lives. All of what Christ did he did so we would believe in who he said he was. He told us not to take his word for it but to believe in what he did according to the will of his father who showed him what to do.
I pray that this message will sink into your hearts and minds this week and if anyone is not a believer my prayer is they will meet the Lord. If it’s on your heart to make Jesus Christ your Savior send a message to my email: email@example.com and I will help you do that.
Look out for next Tuesdays Torch found on www.myspace.com/trippy91 or sent from firstname.lastname@example.org this study is written by Tim Sader inspired by The Holy Spirit.
