Tuesdays Torch week 165

Tuesday’s Torch

By: Tim Sader

Leviticus 2:13

Season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings; add salt to all your offerings.

Last week we learned what Jesus said about who His family is and we learned how to be children of God through Him.  When Jesus’ mother and brothers came to Him while ministering He didn’t run out and greet them He treated them like they were no different than those who were gathered to hear Him speak.  He loved them I’m sure but He loves us all like we are His mother or brothers and if we believe in Him we belong to the family of God.  Those in the crowd He called His mother and brothers because they were doing the will of God by following the Son and everyone who does His will is the family of God.  We can be family if we do His will to and we can do His will by putting His word into practice and doing what it says.  We do His will first by having faith in Christ and living by His example then we must learn to be led by the Spirit of God so we know what He wants us to do.  If we do not want to do Gods will by doing what is right in His sight we are being children of the devil who only is the father of lies.  We are recognized as being children of God by how much we love others because if we do not love we are not His kids.

Others should be able to see and taste our flavor and that flavor should be good so they can enjoy it and want more.  Matthew 5:13 says, “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.”  Christ says that we are the salt of the earth so those of us who believe are the flavor of God in the earth.  After we come to know Christ He fills us with His flavor but if we stray away from the Lord our saltiness will go away and salt is no good if it loses its flavor.  Just like salt that’s lost its flavor if we lose our saltiness we lose our value we become worthless to flavor the world and are thrown away.  Luke 14:34-35 says, “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?  It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out.  Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”  Salt is good so for us to stay salty we must be good by doing the right thing and following Christ.  Salt that is not good is salt that has lost its flavor and once the flavor’s been lost it wont be salty again.  Salt with no flavor does nothing and we cannot flavor the soil of this earth or clean up the crap if we do nothing and become flavorless.  Mark 9:49-50 says, “For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.  Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.”  Salt can be used for cleansing us just like fire it burns away the impurities in metal and heals the blemishes it once had.  For this reason we are sent through the fire and salt so the Lord can remove our impurities and cleanse all our wounds.  Christ was full of salt because He went around doing good so He was already made salty when He became the sacrifice for our sins.  If Christ is in us and we continue doing good then there is salt in us and we will have peace with others because we are spreading His flavor in the earth.

Leviticus 2:13 says, “Season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings; add salt to all your offerings.”  In sacrificing a grain offering it is to be seasoned with salt so it will have the right flavor and be a pleasing aroma to the Lord.  If the salt is left out the covenant is not properly offered to the Lord because the offering has the wrong taste.  We are to add salt to all offerings and though we do not offer grain or flesh what we do offer we should always offer with gladness so that by our good attitude what we offer has the right flavor.  Numbers 18:19 says, “Whatever is set aside from the holy offerings the Israelites present to the LORD I give to you and your sons and daughters as your perpetual share. It is an everlasting covenant of salt before the LORD for both you and your offspring.”  Whatever is left from the offering gave by the people was left to sustain the priest that is their share so they could feed their families and continue doing the work of the ministry.  When we give our offerings they are affecting the lives of the ministry and those being ministered to so when we give with a thankful heart our offerings have a good flavor.  When we salt our offerings in this way we form an everlasting covenant between ourselves and the Lord and He will bless our families with His peace for sprinkling salt on what we give.  2 Chronicles 13:5 says, “Don’t you know that the LORD, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt?”  We can see this in the Life of David he was a man after Gods own heart so he was already salty and because of the covenant of salt his descendants were blessed forever.  David had good flavor to the Lord and He blessed his family by them being the genealogy of Christ who salted Himself and became our sacrifice.  If we accept His sacrifice we become seasoned by Him and are entered into a covenant of salt through His blood.  We are told to be the salt of the earth by expanding this covenant to all people so they can taste the flavor of the Lord and be made salty to.

I will be working on transitioning this study into both the written format on Tuesday and adding a weekly or bi-weekly group discussion at my church if you’d be interested in attending let me know.  The church I attend is MorningStar in Fort Mill, SC you can view School of the Spirit meetings by going to and register for free then watch Friday for School of the Spirit at 7pm EST and Sunday at 9 and 11am EST by clicking the watch live tab at the top of the web screen.  Let the words spoken and the message spread into your area share it with friends, loved ones and local believers to spread revival across the nation and around the world.  Also for those who don’t already forward the torch to others feel free to forward it to everyone on your buddy list, lets reach more people than ever before with its message.  Share it with your churches if you feel lead to. Thanks I pray the Lord will continue touching each of your lives.  All of what Christ did he did so we would believe in who he said he was.  He told us not to take his word for it but to believe in what he did according to the will of his father who showed him what to do.

I pray that this message will sink into your hearts and minds this week and if anyone is not a believer my prayer is they will meet the Lord.  If it’s on your heart to make Jesus Christ your Savior send a message to my email: and I will help you do that.

Look out for next Tuesdays Torch found on or sent from this study is written by Tim Sader inspired by The Holy Spirit.

Blessed are you who enter in God’s name—from God’s house we bless you! God is God, he has bathed us in light.  Psalm 118:26-27
