Tuesdays Torch week 162

Tuesday’s Torch

By: Tim Sader

Mark 7:20

He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them.

Last week we learned what Christ said about the foundation we build our lives on those who build on Him build on solid rock.  There mainly are only two foundations we can chose to build on we either build on the Lord or we build on everything that is not Him.  Those who do not build on the Lord are foolish builders their foundation is like sand it’ll crumble and wash away.  If we will listen to the Lord and do what he tells us to then we are building our lives on Him and we have a strong foundation.  When we start to build on our foundation we must do it with care so that what we build on it properly represents the Lord and makes the whole building stronger.  We are all pieces being put together to be a holy temple in the Lord with Christ being the chief cornerstone we’re all connected to.  Just as we have built ourselves on the teachings of the apostles we are making our contribution to help build up the body and this holy temple.  We are told to move beyond what we first learned at the foundation building on it so we can mature in our faith and walk with God.  There are no limits when it comes to God so if we make Him our foundation than nothing is impossible and we will be firmly planted in Him.

Making Him our foundation means we follow Him and to do this we must understand the ways we are defiled and lead astray.  In Mark 7:14-16 Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand this.  Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.”  The things that are on the outside of a person that they put into their bodies or minds are not what corrupts them, these things only can defile if they enter the heart and come back out of us.  What comes out defiles because those are the very things we have allowed be part of us and the only for it to come out is for it to be inside us first.  In Mark 7:17-19 After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable.  “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them?  For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)  The things that are outside of us in themselves have no power over us those things cannot defile us by going into us.  What we take into ourselves as food or even what enters our minds can be processed and whatever don’t belong can be expelled as waste.  In Today’s Scripture Mark 7:20-23 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them.  For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder,  adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.  All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”  I am not certain that people slow down enough when they read these words of Christ, I didn’t till preparing this study.  What defiles is never what enters into us and that is what I was not understanding because we see and look on sin all day long and we think by it entering us we have been defiled.  We are only defiled by it if we do not get rid of what is garbage and let it get into our heart and then from the heart we let sin come out.

Luke 6:45 says, “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”  If we have stored good things in our heart than good things will come out of us just like when we store evil in our heart that is what we produce.  The evil that defiles us is the sinful acts that we do and the good that proceeds from us is the acts of righteousness that we store up in our hearts.  2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”  To keep our hearts clean and undefiled we must take control of our thoughts so they don’t enter our hearts and become sin.  We must take the evil thoughts captive and let them be removed as waste so that it has no chance to defile us.  Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”  We must learn to guard our hearts and watch what we let into it because if it is against the knowledge of God it doesn’t there.  To diligently keep our heart we watch over and protect it so sin don’t get in.  Out of the heart proceeds the issues of life if you guard it and keep it free from evil or else it will defile you and produce corruption.

I will be working on transitioning this study into both the written format on Tuesday and adding a weekly or bi-weekly group discussion at my church if you’d be interested in attending let me know.  The church I attend is MorningStar in Fort Mill, SC you can view School of the Spirit meetings by going to and register for free then watch Friday for prophetic training and healing ministry tune in at 7pm EST and Sunday at 9 and 11am EST by clicking the watch live tab at the top of the web screen.  Let the words spoken and the message spread into your area share it with friends, loved ones and local believers to spread revival across the nation and around the world.  Also for those who don’t already forward the torch to others feel free to forward it to everyone on your buddy list, lets reach more people than ever before with its message.  Share it with your churches if you feel lead to. Thanks I pray the Lord will continue touching each of your lives.  All of what Christ did he did so we would believe in who he said he was.  He told us not to take his word for it but to believe in what he did according to the will of his father who showed him what to do.

I pray that this message will sink into your hearts and minds this week and if anyone is not a believer my prayer is they will meet the Lord.  If it’s on your heart to make Jesus Christ your Savior send a message to my email: and I will help you do that.

Look out for next Tuesdays Torch found on or sent from this study is written by Tim Sader inspired by The Holy Spirit.

Blessed are you who enter in God’s name—from God’s house we bless you! God is God, he has bathed us in light.  Psalm 118:26-27
